Here is a very good character for a longer story . If you've fleshed out the world and the races, is humbly (and anonymously) challenge you to try something much longer. Game?

Great story, has potential to become much lengthier

The descriptions are captivating, the plot is compelling, and the protagonist is mischievously lovable. I really like the use of shadows in magic. You also show a powerful ability to make the reader just as attracted to a character as the protagonist is. It would be a shame if you never explored this world again.
