This is a comment about the story, not the writing. He didn't burn her enough. She cheated before she took that pill. That alone justified the divorce. Overall, the writing was fine.
There is no drug, potion, or martian ray that can make anyone do anything against their own will. It is all just lies because women refuse to accept responsibility for their actions and will do anything to avoid consequences. Their inability to accept any blame and tell the truth is why predators can coerce and blackmail them so easily, because they are evil, self-entitled narcissists, who usually when all else fails start crying and attempt to portray themselves as the victim anything other than admitting something is their fault.
