I think there are more people like Petra than most realize. It seems that no matter where you go, there will always be someone who tries to make themselves feel superior by putting other people down. Sometimes a single hand reaching out in friendship can make a world of difference.

Everything turning around in her favor, all the love, friendship, and purposeful work she now has, reconciling with her Mom, is a bit too much and too fast. But since its a short story I get that you don't want to waste time with a lot of plot and character development. Your story is a nice diversion from the cheating, betrayal and cruelty that dominate so many of these stories. Thanks for the fresh air.
