I really enjoy the story but Peter is very likeable. The only reason I bring it up is you mentioned this was a story with a jerk for a main character. Peter is not a jerk he just went from being the high school whipping boy to the rich guy who does not really know how to deal with people who really like him. He understands people who love his money, cooking and other things related to him but not people who really care about him.
