So wait a minute, is he saying that a couple of his friends raped Lil? (Ecstasy)

What would be fair about that, Sal?

She turned from a cold bitch to contrite so fast, I got whiplash!

\

"if her husband divorces her and your wife divorces you, you still don't ever go within a mile of her." - Why not? A couple of cheaters deserve each other. One or the other, or both, would be cheating within a year.

\

Why would he get custody? Sal didn't tell he to give Tim custody.

“I just can't find a way to say no to him.” Yeah, right 😎

.

Just a fantastic job of telling a common trope here from a different angle. I would give anything for a friend like Sal. Lil’s reaction to Sal pretty much demonstrated her rotten character — combative, no remorse, arrogance. She got what she deserved…maybe even more, but the “The Kid” had to protect his kids’ relationship with their mother.

.

If there was anything missing, it was not knowing if Lil brought that arrogant attitude to The Kid when she confessed, or did she — however belatedly or coerced — felt any remorse for her actions? Probably doesn’t matter….on the assumption Sal eventually told The Kid about his conversation with the Slut, it probably wouldn’t have mattered much.

.

Some friend this arsewipe turned out to be. HE should have told his BFF "The Kid" about seeing his wife etc and showing the photos/videos. Making himself the bully-boy and dictating terms for a divorce if it takes place is just ridiculous. Same thing for the Dr's wife and attempting to control/dictate things there.

Arsewipe is in no position to do anything. Just ridiculous.

miket0422miket0422over 1 year ago

Interesting angle. Always love seeing a friend be a stand up guy no matter how difficult the circumstances.

First r me the story went a bit off the rails during the confrontation between Sal & Lil. Her explanation of getting swept of her feet by the rich, handsome doctor and the affair allowing her to put her persona of wife and mother aside so she can just feel like a woman makes sense. It's a slimy thing to do. Very selfish and short sighted. But, it makes sense and fits within the limited character development we've been given for Lil.

Having her go full psycho bitch, threatening to destroy her husband of Sal doesn't play by her rules. Then having her turn on a dime and try to seduce Sal into staying quiet.

Neither of those actions fit within the brief character info we've been given.

The justification for Sal's actions and behavior had already been well established and supported. Turning Lil into a caricature of a psycho, slut wife was over the top and frankly felt like lazy writing in an attempt to support an ending that already stood on it's own merits.

I like the set up in both cases to let the kid fight a fair fight. When they were kids he just evened things out so the kid could fight a fair battle.

As adults the kid didn't know he was fighting for his marriage , so Sal simply evened things out and let the kid fight a fair fight.

I think I would beat that doctor weekly for a year or 15

EastCoaster1EastCoaster1over 1 year ago

I thought this was a great story of friendship and personal loyalty, very well-told.

Many years ago, while flying home from a business trip, I ran into my neighbor from the home across the street from mine, arm-in-arm with a woman other than his wife.

He and his wife were both friends of ours, and when he saw me, he let go of the woman's hand, excused himself, and walked across the concourse to me. He started to say something we both knew was bullshit, when he looked in my eyes, stopped what he was saying, and asked me how much time I would give him to come clean to Debbie, his wife.

This was late Friday afternoon, and I said if Debbie didn't know by Monday from him, she would know on Tuesday from me.

He thanked me, apologized for putting me in that position, and walked back across the concourse to where the woman was waiting.

The subject of the conversation was very evident, and after about 5 minutes, he patted her hand, picked up his carry-on bag, and walked away from her, headed for the exit of the airport.

Monday evening he met me when I pulled up to my house from work, apologized to me again, and said Debbie was not going to divorce him, but he was going to keep himself on a short leash, and hoped that someday he would have be able to regain some trust by his wife again. A big reason for her decision was their three kids...

...I'm happy to say their marriage survived and after 2 1/2 years, they were totally past the incident... shexwas a VERY classy lady, and she made sure he became the person he had been.

I guess this 5 stars because it rang such a familiar chime to me... and I did think it was well-written !

JustOneMansOpinionJustOneMansOpinionover 1 year ago

Lifelong friendships are a thing to be treasured.

Did Lil still love Tim, aka. the Kid, and was it like she said, and she just didn't know how to say no to the Doc. It's hard to say. In the coffee shop she tried to bluff but she had no hand to play so she had to fold. The Doc, well he was just a punk, and he folded so fast you had to look fast; it was comical. No one really knows what is in the mind of another person, so we try to attribute our thoughts to the other person. More times than not we are wrong.

Really a good story. 5-stars. Thanks

I think one important difference that this story had that most of the others do not is it didn’t end happy. It ended right, but there were no unicorns and roses, there was simply the reality dealing with infidelity. I enjoyed the story, but I also enjoyed the way you decided to end it.

waifwaifover 1 year ago

I really enjoyed this one.

Since there are only a limited number of plausible plot-lines that can be used, Loving Wives authors are severely challenged and are limited to adding variety to the details. I know writers often avoid the genre because there are only so many ways to re-tell the same story.

I love seeing a common story theme from a new perspective.

She turned from a cold bitch to contrite so fast, I got whiplash! - wasn't enough to stop nitpicking!

\

"if her husband divorces her and your wife divorces you, you still don't ever go within a mile of her." - Why not? A couple of cheaters deserve each other. One or the other, or both, would be cheating within a year.- not your story, so it was written how ttt59 wanted to write it!

\

Why would he get custody? Sal didn't tell he to give Tim custody.- she thought it was a good idea, not your story!

KRD19254KRD19254over 1 year ago

Very good... In life a man can count on one hand his true friends, with luck he will live near them to enjoy life together. Sal is one of an uncommonly rare 'good' friend.

\

Sal did it right leaving the final decision to the betrayed spouse, then support the aggrieved spouse/kids. Sal was a man of honor, principle, with morals - a rare man we all want to be.

\

Interesting take on catching a cheating wife from an unusual perspective. A truly good friend, hard to find, and priceless in real life. The disconcerting issue in the story was how hard and unrelenting Lil was. Unexpected and really aggravating! I guess eight months of a steady diet of cheating can initiate a sense of entitlement, but the crass disregard had to be more deeply rooted. Good story, might have been better without the treats of physical violence. There are better ways to solve problems, be innovative.

A breath of fresh (almost unique) air. Sweetie could go from wolverine to woolly lamb and back again in milliseconds. Scary… and a guarantee Sal would put his big thumb on any scales if he thought Hubby was considering RAAC.

I really liked the “interested party” perspective. IMO it worked extremely well. Really good job — a cheating wife story, without BTB, without reconciliation, the wronged parties came out functional with minimal damage. Karma with help from Sal the 5th wheel.
