Sharing My Landlady's Bed

'Great!' said my boss. 'Would you be ok to start on Monday morning? I know that's not much time to find some accommodation but we can get you a hotel room for the first couple of weeks.'

'Oh, I think the Bed and Breakfast I stayed in would suit me very well,' I told him.

'Well, I'll leave it with you.'

Back at my desk I fished the little business card out of my wallet that Penelope had given me when I arrived at the Hollyhocks Guest House and punched in the number. The phone was answered after about ten rings, just as I was beginning to think she had gone out.

'Penelope,' I said, warmly. 'It's Robin here. Look, I was wondering if you had a room available next week from Monday until Friday?' I listened to the voice at the other end of the line. 'There's space available in your room? That's great! I'll see you on Sunday afternoon.'
