"So are we really going then?" Katharina asked quietly once Louise was half way across the room, "Or was that just an excuse."

Vera turned and smiled quizzically, "Yes, of course we are going in. I would like to find those lovely dmurrhisi you and Ivy brought with you."

Katharina was caught off guard as Vera stood up abruptly and wrapped her gown closed. Katharina found that she was still turning her thoughts over in her mind. But now what preoccupied her was the recent and striking memory of the two short encounters she had just witnessed. Both Fereshteh and Louise obviously desired Vera, and quite ardently. Louise's expression, and her behavior, had been considerably more restrained, but it had still seemed obvious enough to Katharina.

In particular the image of Fereshteh gaily abandoning herself to lust and writhing in Vera's lap simmered vividly in Katharina's imagination, tinged with the faint shame of envy. Envy of the ease and the totality with which Vera seemed to draw dmurrhisi to herself, but also of Fereshteh's own straightforward confidence in taking what she wanted. Katharina guessed that Fereshteh was perhaps ten years older than Vera, or even a little more. Though she couldn't provide herself with a specific reason why, this fact served to make the notion of Vera's compelling power of attraction over the other woman even more impressive, and exciting.

"Come, Katharina," Vera clapped her fingers against her palm, beckoning as she turned towards the archway.

"Right," Katharina stood and hurried around the table to follow.

She looked back at the stool on which Vera had been sitting, wondered idly what she was seeking there, then she passed under the leather curtain as Vera held it aside, and they both stepped out and into the testing chamber.
