Just now arriving, Artsy took the chair beside Dan and LF sat down next to Artsy. "Do you really think you can compete with that young Adonis he has with him tonight, Dan."

Dan blushed and then hugged his friend. He followed hug with a soft punch to Artsy's shoulder as she greeted the others.

"Dan, I know Artsy got you into a skirt once to hang with the lesbians but I didn't know you swung to the guys too. You are a kinky bastard, aren't you?"

"LF, I don't have a skirt on tonight and neither do you so we better not kiss. Give me a fist to bump and then you two girls need to clean up your act. In case you haven't noticed there are two respectable ladies at the table."

The humorous greeting Artsy gave Dan was her last contribution of levity to the night's conversation. She participated with her friends but Dan sensed she was subdued as though something unpleasant was on her mind. Several times he noticed that LF, under the table and mostly out of sight, would reach for Artsy's hand. LF and Artsy had been sometime lovers before Artsy's marriage, but LF's hand holding did not seem at all sexual, even suggestive, or possessive. Dan could tell LF was offering emotional support to her friend and resolved to discretely ask questions if he could find the proper setting. Although the romantic and emotional bond Dan and Artsy shared lessened when Laura returned from lover to her husband, and had split completely when Artsy married, Dan retained a close concern of deep friendship for the woman sitting beside him tonight. Artsy had been there for Dan during troubling times; if something was troubling Artsy he wanted to know and help if possible.

Artists, gallery people, collectors and hangers-on to the art community drifted by their table to say hello, visit and play personal agendas. Artsy and LF did not migrate; they became members of the table for the night. Mrs. Patron spoke up to draw out LF on her name.

"Young Lady, you know I do not care for the informality of nicknames. In every case our mothers bestow a name on us and mothers deserve respect. Why do use LF? I know the name your mother gave you; those are not even your initials."

"No, they are not my initials Mrs. Patron. LF comes from Artsy, excuse me, from LeeAnne." LF looked squarely at the older woman. She wanted to make clear that her answer meant no disrespect.

"When LeeAnne introduced Dan to me she told Dan I was a Lesbian Feminist and he should never forget that. When I refused to give Dan my name he used those words as initials, LF. I came to like them."

"I remember that night. I remember complimenting Daniel for his ability to get along with you."

"I remember that night as well. I have never known your given name, still don't. I can't imagine you as anyone other than LF. I guess I should take some pride of authorship along with LeeAnne."

"You can have Artsy for LeeAnne, Dan, LF is mine alone. They are, the LF initials I mean, distinctively me. I am a lesbian feminist and I am proud of both traits. LF is a distinctive name: appellation, moniker, handle, as our local truck drivers would say; it is recognized and unique, me. My work has bought ownership of those initials."

LF actually blushed as she made that last statement. Normally she was outgoing among her peers and to the public but reserved and shy for authority figures she respected. Mrs. Patron and Friend fit that respected category. Still, she was proud of her reputation in the world of artists.

"About my mother, I have learned as I matured to renew the love, and yes the respect, I must have had when I was a very young girl. As you can probably guess I was a rebellious young child and rejected her. I have not apologized for my rebellion, but we have made our peace and are now family once again."

Mrs. Patron shifted the direction of conversation to LeeAnne. "My dear, I am going to have Daniel take us home shortly, before he gets too inebriated to safely drive. If your husband wouldn't object to you spending the night with friends, would you and LF like to come with us?"

"Husband or not, I can think of few things more pleasant than being in your home with very dear friends." Artsy reached with right hand across the table to Mrs. Patron and with left hand to Dan. "May I have a rain check? I know tomorrow will be quite busy and a night of restful sleep will serve me better than the night of excitement that would await me at your home."

Dan picked up on his friend's husband or not phrase. That must be the source of her discontent. Marriage can be difficult, if anyone knows that fact I am that person. Artsy knows what I have gone through. Is she having some of the same problems?

"I understand, LeeAnne; the invitation is still open for you, LF."

"Thank you Mrs. Patron but I am driving and Artsy is with me. I will see her safely home."

Dan offered a parting toast to which all parties lifted their glass before draining their final drink of the night, "To all of us always."

The few scotch drinks Dan consumed over a fun filled lengthy evening in no way impaired his driving ability. He escorted both ladies to Mrs. Patron's den, poured brandy snifters and served drinks to close out the evening's social function. In due order, he led the parade to bedroom for another night of sexual gymnastics. Dan was glad he had interests and friends to keep him well involved in life while Laura was on the west coast at business and renewing ties with her lover.

The writing and storytelling are impeccable, well done, and impactful—that's WHY the readers loathe Laura. If this were a poorly written, half-baked BTB in which the Martians had zapped the wife into a "size zombie," I'd laugh and vote on the writing only, which is usually much worse than the idiotic storytelling. Here, we "see" a real-life situation because BnB can write evocatively. We readers like or dislike characters who resonate and feel realistic. We see Laura as an entitled narcissist who has absolutely no empathy or sympathy. She grieves for Dan only as it affects her, and she is oblivious to how her actions damage him. StormX granted us relief from Laura and got some much-needed "justice" in the sense that justice balances things. Yes, I LOVE your writing, but you treat Laura as only a writer who is blinded by her character's imperfections is capable. The consensus was that she should suffer for her craven betrayal of Dan--this was one of those "let sleeping dogs lie" tales.

On StormX's variation

When I originally published Always Faithful in 2010 there was a screw up in the way the last half dozen or so chapters were presented that prompted StormX to write a version of the story ending that was his, not mine. I would like to make several points on what StormX wrote and how that came to be.

1 - StormX did not at any time before or after consult with me about his alternative story - I really think that should have been done as common courtesy.

2 - I do think, and I said this publicly in comment, that StormX did a pretty good job of trying to keep the characters and plot moving in the stream I first painted.

3 - I am quite sure that the way StormX painted Laura in his version was far more severe and negative than I created her. Yes, she was a certified bitch, no doubt, and her behavior was far too often cruel toward husband Dan, but there was never a doubt that she loved him and the relationship they had over her relationship with Greg.

4 - The third point above is critical to AF and to Still Faithful, Always - Laura did not select based solely on bedroom sex, she chose love and that is what StormX seemed to leave out of his alternative ending to Always Faithful. I have not gone back and read StormX's story but as I recall it ends in classic burn the bitch and get rid of her fashion so Dan can marry Artsy.

5 - That my point four above is popular does not surprise me. It is a plausible ending. I complimented (is that better katib?) StormX on writing because I have seen far too many stories here where another writer takes/steals torch and goes down tunnels even the white rabbit could never dream of. Whatever end point alternative readers and potential revisionists might want to see was not mine at all. I selected that Always Faithful title with clear thought, purpose - surprise maybe but no sarcasm - and the ending I wrote clearly in mind.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I am reading all comments and only decided to make some comment now on StormX's ending because it seemed so prevalent in the comments of others. I will share whatever comments and thoughts I may have after the ending in Part Four. I do hope you will read the remainder of Still Faithful, Always with an open mind. I wish I could have published this in one simple post but it would have come to twenty or so Lit pages and that number is far too long to expect readers to wade through.

Dan shows his Alpha Male side this time.

BobNbobbie had San show his femimine side in the first series of Always Faithful. I hope this time the author allows Dan to be the Alpha Man and not Greg. Laura was not honest with her husband befote she left for the week. She showed her true colors when with Hreg on first date. Set the plot and her goal of trying to change Dan to 2ndbe tier husband again. I hope BobNbobbie shows his once Alpha Male side before he turned Bi sexual. He said he was married for 30you years before divorced. So he does know the feeling at least a little, it would have been what attracted his wife to him in the first place.

Success

The earliest psychologist to make a bunch of money left academe because of his Dean's wife's infatuation with his amorous talent! (The Dean was NOT a willing cuck!) Went into commercial consultation and made a lasting discovery (hence the Big Bucks!)

#It doesn't matter if a reader LOVES an ad, or HATES it! If they REMEMBER it, money will flow in from the sales!#

'Faithful' seems to be consistent with the spirit of that discovery! Almost no commenter is neutral! I happen to think that 'Faithful' is a classic (of good writing!)

Before anyone wastes electrons trying to besmirch every aspect of my being, let me hasten to add that I think Laura is the Prototype Queen Bitch! Also, Dan is about as clueless as a lava rock about protecting his own sanity. Take away Greg's big dick and you're left with an ambulance-chaser who Laura would not hire to notarize her subscription form for The Daily Beast! It is the SKILL of BnB that causes those emotions to boil in the readers!

5* and thanks!

Just Read StormX's story

I just read StormX's ending, and I must say that I liked it a lot. I liked it so much that I can not finish this series. I feel that this author is going to simply use Dan as a punching bag for emotional cruelty, and it will ruin the story for me. I know that this author is the original author so it seems kind of odd that HIS ending will ruin the story for me, but I can't help it. If I keep reading about Dan getting hurt over and over again just for the emotional response that it gets, I will continue to rate it low. As I said before, I can't judge these stories fairly. So I wanted to wish the author luck with his writing, and I hope he has much success. I urge the other people who don't like these stories to also stop reading. It seems unfair to the author and to yourself to waste your time on a story that's going to anger you, You know the direction the author is going to take with this story. I suggest that you allow the people who enjoy these types of stories to read them, and you find a story that you enjoy.

Not my cup of tea.

I don't want to judge a story like this. I find it impossible to be a fair judge when it comes to stories about a loveless marriage. I tried reading through the original series, but I didn't like it so I just skipped to the end to see how it ended. I was not impressed. I tried to read through this to see if it was going to work toward real love. Once again, was not impressed.

I do like cheating stories, but there has to be a level of underlying love. If an author writes a cheating story and choses to keep the characters together, I like to see the characters try to make it work by learning how to be a spouse to the other person. I like to see the path from betrayal, to confrontation, then to remorse, then to struggle, then finally to forgiveness and reconciliation. If on the other hand the author decides to split them up, I like to see both people work through the issues and then move on with their lives. In stories like this, those conflicts are gone because you have one spouse who is incapable of love, and the other spouse who is so weak and has so little self esteem that they just sit around and get shit on. They both just stay stuck and the story goes nowhere. All that is left is a bunch of sex scenes, never ending pain, and no growth.

I know that some people have marriages that deviate from what we consider normal. There are open marriages, wife sharing, and even cuckolding. If it works for them, then who am I to judge? However, no matter what your marriage looks like, love still looks the same. First and foremost, true love is not selfish. True love does not have one person knowingly hurting their spouse and not caring. If you are into cuckolding, it has to work for BOTH people. If it doesn't, then it isn't love.

I know that some people get off on the pain of the weak husband, and that is why a story like this holds appeal to them. I like to read about the struggles of love, and two people trying to make a bad situation work so they can move into the future. A story like this doesn't have any love, and therefore it just makes me feel empty when I read it. I try to avoid stories like this because I can't be fair when voting. Unfortunately I sometimes get caught up in one and become invested in the characters before I realize that this will remain a loveless story. When this happens I unfortunately can't give it anything but one star.

Fetching (?)

It is nice to have this story revived and presented for our delectation. Not only is it well crafted, but the characters have an innate appeal that I find widely fetching. My hope--regardless of your intent--is that Dan finally understands that Laura, despite her countless professions of love for him, is actually demoting him to an inferior status in comparison with her lover, Greg. Dan is intelligent; he has all the fawning women he needs; let him contemplate and then effectuate, divorce from his ever-more self-centered slut of a wife.

Good start to a challenging story

BNb, I will admit that I liked how Stormx ended this story. It brought closure. Yet, your story brings an ambiguity that is both puzzling and interesting. The real problem is not Laura's desire for two lovers, it is her complete selfishness and demand that they both be her husband. The odd thing is she treats her "real" husband far worse than her "pretend" husband. She did it in the past and she is clearly setting up to do it again.

It is hard not to root for Dan to finally say good bye. He would be better served being out of her life and if he cannot be out of her life, he would be better treated being the "second" husband. Then Greg can be treated as he deserves... badly. Just like Dan has been treated.

Odd story, but it will be interesting to see how you handle it now that it has been rekindled.
