I find it hard to believe a husband and wife cannot recognize each other's voice in the dark.

totally predictable, unrealistic, ....

...but the execution is terrible. There isn't enough light for two people who have been married for many years to recognize one another close up, but both of them managed to grab their towel and keys from the chaise lounge with no problem. Never mind that two people married for "many years" couldn't recognize one another's whispers and voice because it was too dark or something. If they are that poorly tuned to one another, it's no wonder they are having problems connecting on other levels.
