The chapters are getting darker. There’s less satire here. (And I don’t think that’s a bad thing. It shakes things up. Keeps them less predictable.) We’ve revealed Val’s Quest. Will Katsa become jealous of Ellie? Will Katsa feel like she’s just a substitute for Ellie in Val’s heart?

And we’ve revealed that Katsa is a Rule Breaker. Ivy has some homicidally strict ideas about Rule Breakers! That could be a source of conflict.

Ivy isn’t stupid. She’s a clueless savant. But she’s also emotionally detached. I can’t tell if she is close to anyone, even the other members of Terrible Company.
