For too many months the prior comment has been allowed to stand as the undisputed assessment of this story, based on its first installment alone. How inauspicious! I sort of understand what prompted the dismal remark, and yet I exhort my fellow readers to give Burt, Jack, Taylor, and Maddy a chance to settle in your hearts and minds. This author has a remarkable outlook and a marvelous gift for expressing the most profound truths. (Unfortunately, he is plagued by grammatical slips that often get the better of him, but I for one am willing to ake due allowances.) Please do not write this story off based on an opening that doesn't succeed in setting the hook.

Good intro to the story. No wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am is welcome here. Keep it up;-)
