--- THE SCREAM PARK ---

Every October, and leading up to Halloween, the theme park where Liza lives turns into a 'Scream park' - and goes all-out with horror-themed fun, including special events, spooky makeovers for the rides, creepy costumes, and a plethora of different haunted houses and frightening theatrics. Some of the visitors also arrive in ghoulish get-ups, dressed up as ghosts and witches, mummies and werewolves. It also remains open until the late hours of the night, long after darkness has fallen, and sometimes they'll set off fireworks as midnight strikes.

As Liza waited for her friends from college to finish the roller coaster ride that she absolutely did not want to join them on, she spotted a vampire - dressed in a lavish looking suit, with a cape over his shoulders. She slurped on her cherry smoothie - aptly renamed a 'blood cocktail' for the month - and observed the man from afar, across the crowded area in front of the ride. He had long, wavy hair - black as the darkest onyx - intense eyes and pale skin. Youthful, tall, slender, and absolutely gorgeous. Liza thought he was likely talented both at sucking blood and sucking face, and couldn't help but smirk as her mind wandered.

She instantly regretted being caught in her little daydream as he turned his gaze towards her direction, their eyes locking. She felt her cheeks flush pink as they regarded each other for a few seconds. Something about him was mesmerizing - almost magical, his attractiveness bewitching - and Liza exhaled a breath she didn't realize she had been holding in. She then heard the screech of the roller coaster as it came to a stop, and the passengers began to disembark. Her friends ran out, almost skipping, giddy over how amazing the ride was.

"You missed out, Liza!" Dolores exclaimed, a smile plastered over her face, her eyes alight with excitement. "You really should have come with us."

"No thanks," she scoffed, and pushed her glasses further up the bridge of her nose. "One loop is already too much for me. Three is madness." Liza sighed, taking another sip of her smoothie, barely concealing a grimace. The sugar seemed to heighten the headache she was experiencing, the tightness around her temples causing discomfort. She would much rather be home, wrapped in a warm blanket and reading a book. She was an introvert, 'adopted' by the extroverted Dolores and Amber whom insisted to bring her to places like this. Otherwise she'd barely go anywhere at all.

"Alright, alright.. So what do you want to do?" Amber asked her, and pushed a lock of her auburn hair out of her face. "And if you say 'go home' I'll spank you right in front of this entire crowd!"

"I actually do have a suggestion," Liza said as she turned back, without thinking, to look for the vampire again - and realized that he was no longer there. A wave of disappointment rushed over her - a stupid, silly feeling she immediately chided herself for. "Let's go into the haunted house on top of the hill that we saw earlier. I think the queue should be smaller now as it's getting rather late."

"That's the best idea you've ever had!" Dolores exclaimed, her smile growing impossibly wider. Liza scrunched her face as she heard the squeal escape her friend's throat - the high-pitched noise assaulting her ears mercilessly. But she was glad that her friends were willing to take a break from all of the more intense rides made for adrenaline junkies. She enjoyed horror stories and movies, but she had no stomach for roller coasters. And the haunted house on the hill was meant to be the scariest in the whole park, according to some acquaintances of Dolores that they had bumped into an hour or two prior, whom claimed they had already visited all the others as well.

One thing was for certain; out of all the haunted houses that the scream park had put together for this month of fright, this one was by far the largest. It was housed in an old building, usually used for a bunch of other things - such as housing an area where you could design and put together your own teddy bear. But tonight it was decorated to be as haunting as possible, with fake cobwebs, plastic skeletons, hanging corpses, and many other eerie decorations. Even though the decor was predictable and uninventive, the level of detail was actually quite impressive, Liza thought. Candles on either side of the pathway cast an orange glow over everything, adding to the ghoulish atmosphere. They were fake, but they looked realistic enough - the 'flames' wobbling from side to side.

There was no longer any queue in sight at all. Amber looked scared before they even got to the entrance, and Dolores wasn't faring much better. Somehow Liza seemed to be the bravest of the trio, and yet her heart was beating out of her chest, her hands growing clammier by the second. All of their bravery from earlier seemed to diminish with each step they took.

"Are you sure about this?" Amber squeaked, stopping in her tracks once they were at the door to the house. "We can just go back, and see what else is available.." A woman dressed up as a nurse with blood-spatter on her white dress smiled at them with a crazed look on her face, serving as a sort of gate-keeper - letting people pass if they had already paid the entrance fee, and sending others away. Liza couldn't help but admire how good her costume looked, a bonesaw in one hand - a bit much, perhaps, but realistic looking enough.

"I'm sure we'll be okay.." Liza said, though her voice wasn't quite as firm as she wished it to sound. Her nerves seemed to be twisting her insides into knots, but at least she had forgotten all about the headache. "Come on, let's just do this.."

The other two seemed to agree, and followed behind as Liza took a deep breath and moved forward. The nurse ushered them through the open door once Liza got rid of her empty smoothie cup in the nearby trash bin. The entrance was lightly rusted, giving off the ominous vibe that it belonged to an abandoned mental asylum or something along those lines. As soon as they entered, the door was shut behind them with an audible bang, making Amber jump. Dolores laughed nervously and Liza rolled her eyes at their immature behaviour, though inwardly she felt just as afraid.

The lights inside were flickering, casting everything in a sickening shade of green. Momentarily, they would stop all-together, making the room black as the deepest of pits, but then they would switch back on again, blinking once more. A blood-curling scream came from somewhere ahead and the three girls all huddled together. They instantly noticed there was more ways to proceed than one, several of the doors being left open on either side for them to pick between. They glanced at each other, and simply decided to move straight ahead.

The path forward led to a corridor where a faceless woman was standing, swaying her body back and forth like a pendulum, and unnaturally twitching from time to time. The group took one look at her, said 'nope', then immediately decided to pick a different path. They entered a side-room which was littered with what seemed like mannequin parts, as well as a bed with a dirty mattress which was empty save for a few smashed-in and seemingly burnt heads to go with the other limbs. Pained expressions had been painted onto them, their features contorted into silent screams.

Liza felt goosebumps appear on her skin, the room giving off a strange, somewhat claustrophobic vibe. It made her uneasy. But the next room was even worse, filled to the brim with porcelain dolls, staring blankly towards the ladies. The air was heavy, the atmosphere unbearable, and Liza could feel her chest constrict painfully - and she realized she had forgotten to breathe again. A long, high pitched laugh from somewhere behind them made her flinch and she had to grasp onto Dolores' hand to steady herself, but her sudden movement seemed to startle her friend and the blonde's hands shot up into the air - her heart leaping to her throat.

"DON'T FRIGHTEN ME LIKE THAT!" she hissed, much too loudly, and Liza mumbled an apology for disturbing her. Amber didn't seem to pay much attention to their exchange, as she had already taken a few steps forward, passing between the dolls and making her way into the next room. The rest of the group followed behind.

It wasn't until they were all in the next dark corridor that they heard the chainsaw. A quick glance behind them informed the group that it was time to run, as a hulking beast of a man came bursting through a door behind them, brandishing his tool like a crazed executioner. On his face he wore what appeared to be a pigs head, but with the eyes gouged out, and the mouth sewn shut with exaggerated cross stitches. Amber screamed loudly, but her voice was drowned out by the engine of his chainsaw. It looked incredibly realistic, and Liza felt her heart beating relentlessly.

The girls ran, turned a corner, and bumped into what looked like a swamp creature - a female one, small and nimble - with long, claw-like hands and a body covered in slimy moss. She reached out towards Liza, but the young woman managed to dodge away from her arm and they were running again, but in different directions now. Liza got separated from her friends, but as she thought of turning back to regroup with them, the door behind her slammed shut. She was hyperventilating at this point, and had to admit to herself that this was far more frightening than she had anticipated.

She moved forward, treading slowly through the next room - which had been transformed into some sort of medical operating theatre - but filled with cages of varying sizes, each of them stuffed full with various organs and intestines. It even had a certain stink to it, adding to the realism, though if you looked closely enough you could tell the pieces were props and not actual human or animal parts. But Liza didn't have the luxury of inspecting them thoroughly as she heard footsteps from somewhere behind her, and she had no intention of sticking around to find out who was approaching.

She turned a corner, quickly darting down a staircase, into the basement. At first everything was dark, but as she reached the bottom she noticed the candle lights flicker to life one by one, creating an eerie atmosphere that made her shudder. Her eyes scanned the surroundings and eventually fell on something - or rather someone - whom sat motionless, seated in a wheelchair at the other end of the room, covered by a bloodied white sheet. The young college student swallowed audibly.

Liza walked past it as quietly as she could, assuming whomever was under there would spring to life at any second to startle her - but it didn't move at all, though she could her a wheezing sound from underneath the cloth. The next room she came across looked like a ritual chamber of some kind, with runes and other scribbles on the floor and the walls, glowing softly in the dark in a red hue. A coffin stood in the middle, seemingly half-buried in the ground, surrounded by rubble.

As she stepped closer, a figure suddenly burst forward from the coffin, and Liza got so frightened that she screamed from the bottom of her lungs and lost control of her bladder. Warm liquid filled her underwear, spreading down along the insides of her thighs, out from underneath her skirt and onto the floor. She was mortified, not only because of the haunting experiences in the house, but also due to embarrassment. And just then she realized that the creature in front of her was none other than the handsome vampire she had spotted before.

The young man looked down at the pool of urine forming upon the ground between them, and instantly broke character. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry.." he said, seeming almost as startled as she felt. He had an accent which she couldn't quite place - but it wasn't American. His expression showed signs of shock, his lips turned in a small frown. "I didn't mean to.. I mean.. Scaring you is my job.." He scratched the back of his head nervously.

"S-Sorry, uhm.. Wow.. Seems you did slightly too good of a job," Liza giggled awkwardly. "I'm so embarrassed.."

"Here, come with me.." he said, extending a hand for her to grab onto. She complied and he helped her out of the room, carefully guiding her over and around the debris and skeletal parts that was thrown all around, and then he got a key out from his pocket and opened up a door that wasn't meant to be accessed by the guests. Inside was an ordinary room, furnished with a comfortable sofa, two armchairs and a large screen TV. On the far end was a small kitchen. It looked like a break room for staff.

"There's some paper towel over there on the counter.." he pointed, locking eyes with Liza again. Here in the light she could see how handsome he was again. He had the most mesmerizing eyes she'd ever seen - blue with hints of what almost looked like silver around the edges. "Or you can clean up in the sink, if you prefer.." He suggested, placing his hands in the pockets of his suit pants, and rocking back and forth on his feet.

"I'm sorry about this," Liza replied, her voice low. She was completely embarrassed, but she appreciated his kindness. "I don't.. I mean.. This isn't something I usually do.." she fumbled, unable to control herself as she realized what a fool she had made herself out to be.

"It's alright," he reassured her, smiling. "We've had people faint, run head-first into walls, and all kinds of things. But you're the first who.. Well.." He didn't finish his sentence.

She let out a nervous laugh. "Been drinking too many cherry smoothies, I suppose.." she said, sounding incredibly awkward. It was meant to be a joke but it didn't land at all. "Sorry about this.."

"Don't worry about it. It's kind of cute," he chuckled, flashing her a dazzling smile that made Liza instantly weak at the knees. The vampiric fangs he wore looked very realistic, and the man certainly fit the part. His teeth were pearly white, straight and perfectly aligned. And there was something about his eyes - a sort of mischief in them that made him seem less scary and more likeable. Liza was smitten.

Liza blushed and looked down in an attempt to hide her face. Her skirt felt wet against her skin, clinging to the parts of her thighs that had been drenched with urine, and some had spilled onto her thigh-high socks as well. She groaned in embarrassment, trying to figure out a way to solve her dilemma. It wasn't like she had any spare clothes with her.

"Listen, I'll leave you alone for a bit so you can get cleaned up. Besides, I have to inform the crew that there's a puddle out there before someone slips and hurt themselves. I'll be back in five minutes, okay?" he smiled at her as if trying to reassure her that everything would be okay.

Liza nodded awkwardly and watched him leave the room. As soon as he was gone, she let out a deep breath, and turned towards the sink. There, she ran some cold water to splash onto her face, her heart still hammering against her chest. The adrenaline was slowly fading from her system, and she was going into problem-solving mode. She grabbed a handful of paper towels, cleaned herself off as best as she could, and threw it into the trashcan. The panties were beyond saving, so she slipped right out of those, hesitated, but then threw them away too. She had no place to store them where they wouldn't smell.

She removed her skirt as well, running it under the tap, figuring that it was better it was wet with water instead of urine. She splashed water onto herself as well, and wiped herself clean with more paper towel, shivering slightly as the air conditioning was turned on. Liza couldn't believe what an idiot she had made herself out to be. She had not peed her pants since she was a mere child. The humiliation seemed unbearable. And he thought it was cute..?

And then, as she stood there - bottomless, save for her socks and her shoes - the 'vampire' returned. Instantly, his eyes seemed to land between her legs, onto her clean-shaven slit, but he snapped them right back up as he caught himself acting inappropriately. They were both blushing now.

"S-Sorry, I didn't realize.." he started, but his voice trailed off.

"It's okay.. Really.." Liza replied. Her face felt like it was on fire, and she must have been redder than a stoplight.

"Unfortunately, I couldn't find any replacement clothes anywhere," he began - but then he removed his vampiric cape, and held it forward towards her. "Here, wrap this around you. It's better than nothing."

She hesitated, then took it from him. It was heavier than she expected, and had a certain scent to it that she found appealing - masculine yet sweet. It smelled like a mixture of pheromones and aftershave. The material felt smooth against her fingertips. After a moment's hesitation, she wrapped it around herself much like a towel. "I'll pay for a replacement one.." she promised, her voice soft and quiet.

He waved his hand dismissively. "It's alright, don't worry about it," he said. "Are you feeling okay now?"

Liza nodded. "I think so. Thank you again.." she said.

He walked a bit closer to her, and bowed his head. "I'm Evan. But in the haunted house, I'm Christoph the Bloodless!" There was more than a hint of dramatic flair to his voice as he announced his character name, his accent exaggerated as he said it.

"... I'm Liza."

"Liza. Should I take you home? Or do you have a ride?"

Liza shook her head. "No, I don't. I'm here with my friends, and we got here by bus.. But it's okay," she assured him.

He looked at her with an unreadable expression on his face. "Okay.. Well.. If you want to go on public transport with a cape wrapped around your lower bits, I won't stop you. But if you'd prefer a ride in my car, my boss has given me the rest of the night off. My shift was going to end in about twenty minutes regardless.."

She didn't really need to think that over. "I'll take the ride.." she mumbled, trying not to seem too desperate. She really just wanted this nightmare to be over. "But.. Can you make me a promise? Don't tell my friends that I.. You know.."

"Sure thing." Evan agreed. "Although you'll have to come up with some excuse of why you left without them."

"I'll just tell them I went home with a handsome boy," Liza said, surprised by her own boldness. She wasn't usually like that - but something about him seemed so... approachable? Even though he had just scared the living daylights out of her. He smiled and took her hand, helping her get dressed in his overcoat so she could better hide her predicament, clutching the wet skirt with one hand underneath. The coat was way too big for her, giving her a comical look. "This smells really nice.." she mused aloud.

"Oh, thanks.." he replied, scratching his neck, looking unsure of what to do with that information. "Let me just check that the coast is clear, and then we'll sneak out without alarming any other guests."

Liza nodded, watching him disappear through the door. A few moments passed by, and then he returned - now without his fangs. "We're good to go," he smiled at her. "Come on, I'll take you to my car."
