The style of writing is a bit note-like with a lack of urgency; considering the actual events, the discovery of an affair, a near-divorce and an attempted suicide, somehow the story doesn't grab you with the level of drama that the events should imply, and comes across a bit dull somehow. But there are no glaring mistakes that spring to mind.

By the way, on what grounds would a lawyer get a restraining order keeping her 1000 feet away from the house? It's legally her home too.
