A very enjoyable 5 STAR read! Thanks for sharing! It seems you read Louis L'Amour books. :o) Your two brothers were very reminiscent of the Sacketts. I'm thinking Tell and Orin or maybe Tell and Tyrell. I hope you share some more stories. I'm thinking you might read some of Zane Grey too since he sometimes hobbles his horses but I don't recall L'Amour ever having written about that practice. In any event you created a wonderful story and THANK YOU!
It seems you have read a lot of older writers of western Loar & picked a few of their tricks up. These boys you write of could be "Sackett's" or "Chantry's" hell mebbe even "Killkenny"!! lol you write well & with a few/better proof reads you will turn error free work out! You turn a phrase well and pen an interesting & hard to put down read!
Every time I read some of your stories my 75 year old start leaking, as far as I'm concerned you do a better job the Louis L'Amour. Thanks for your style
I've owned and read every L'Amour book (multiple times), this is every bit as good. Now on to Spilt Trail Ranch!Thank you Q.
somewhere east of Omaha
A pity it wasent part of the main story as it would have given some context. Literotica wont let one change the story order by date to make following some stories easier to join up.
You have a gift for story telling. Enjoyed your western as much as a Louis L’Amour novel.
What a reading pleasure this was! A classic western tale,
it’s wonderful and captivating. My thanks to the author.
I thought it was well written, and would like to see more written along the lines of this story, and about these times
That was soooo good.
From the descriptions of vintage firearms, are you starting a new genre? “NRA porn” perhaps?
Lots of sex, shootin’, and explosions… of several kinds. It almost sounds Freudian come to thing about it.
About five bazillion rating on a scale of five. …on to da next.
one of my favorites reads on a slow day. I imagine this as a Western Movie,
Excellent and it joins Split Trails Ranch as a fun, excellent read. Also, Google search the guns mentioned here.
Had no idea what I was getting into....but you sucked me in and to me for a great ride...Thanks!
I'm not much for westerns, but this was a wonderful story. Maybe I do like them now. A lot of sadness here, especially about Elsa, but I guess that's the kind of stuff that happened.
Wow ! Who knew you could write westerns ? But then you seem to be able to make all of your stories real & believable. A lot of violence in this one, but that was the old west. A lot of instant justice in those days. Harsh but effective. Loved the characters. Another easy 5-😊😊😊😊😊
This type of story suited the author way better than their cross dressing transvestite expositions with pan sexual group sex and oh of course free love 🤣🤣🤣
It's amazing the sins this author tries to paper over with the old LOVE WORD 😇😇 So in this story one which should be much bigger considering the amount of time and energy the author commits to their other pet projects ends up being short sweet and way to the point.
Oh well maybe the author will one day realize they should stick to what they know instead of reconciling with every slut wife on the Planet🤔🤔🤔
Enjoying your stories. Don’t remember which one I read first to find them. If I really like a story, I check out the author’s other stories and if I like the first couple I will start reading them from top to bottom. Needless to say I have found yours to be pretty good. Quality of stories damn close to a 10 for everyone I have read, keeping characters straight about an 8. But as I said very good reads.
Very good story until the last page where you lose it and refer to this and that daughter; we lose track of who they are, who they are with, etc. It is like you wanted to finish the story but did not give a darn about how it ended.
5* for most of it and 1* when you fuck up the last page
BJ
Great story. Can’t wait to read the continuing adventures in the next novel. Cheers
Man, I do loves and appreciate your writing. I am honored that you share your talent and ability. Long after the story is read, many things and events still linger and I hope to remember much of this story for a very long time...!
Well written though killing off Elsa was mean! Another fine effort and we’ll worth the read, 5 stars!
We all want a good ending but the death of Elsa overshadowed it but not in a totally macabre way. Absolutely excellent throughout. Thank you. 5⛤
Great addition to"Split Tail Ranch" . great story. Thanks for writing.
Just made my favourite two stories into my favourite three stories:
1- Eye in the sky (bought the book on Amazon after reading it here)
2- Lady in Red (so over-the-top it's brilliant)
3- The Walters Brothers/Split Trails Ranch
Release them as one continuous story, you've got talent my friend.
Good Luck,
Tony
You, my friend, have a gift. I believe that you should ensure your intellectual property is protected and start networking to find an agent to pitch your stories. They are every bit as captivating as Yellowstone and 1883.
Outstanding story. I thought it to be interesting and intriguing all the way to the end
I consider this read one of the best on the site! Great job and look forward to reading more of your works!
I had to check when it was posted because I couldn't believe I'd missed it. Very well done and Yes, I'd encourage further stories about the brothers. Now I've got to go back and reread Split Trails Ranch.
I have read many of you submissions and really enjoy your work but most of all I like the westerns "Slit Trails Ranch" and "The Walter Brothers". We look forward to the next instalment. Keep writing the westerns
Great read. How the US became the success it is. No woke winging prats, real people and taking responsibility for their actions. Loved it.
This is the second reading for this sequel (or prequel) ... Just as thrilling as Split Trails .. Now I am waiting for the next Walters brothers saga. Thank you Q ... Please keep writing your stories.
An outstanding read, even the second time!
To anonymous from 4 days ago, why do you think it's rubbish? You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but you didn't eloborate as to why you feel that way.
Fantastic job! I enjoyed the characters, plot and writing. Mostly, you reminded me of my Grandfather. Gramps was a huge fan of Louis L'amour books – me, not so much. I know if I had handed this to my gramps, after reading it he would have had a huge grin on his face while saying, “son, you ain't old enough for readin' books like this.”... In any case, you brought back a lot of wonderful memories for me. Thank You!
It was a fun read with great chacters, both heros and villains. It explained the story of the Split Tail Ranch.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading most all of your writing on Literotica. I keep reviewing your list to see if I missed one!
Thanks for sharing
You’ve done a great job with your westerns, I know that is not exactly your genre, but I’ve been real impressed with your efforts on The Walters brothers, and Rocky the raccoon. Speaking of which, you owe us that last Rocky chapter, I hope it’s on the schedule.
Thanks for the time and effort you put in for us. KS
Very enjoyable, not a major point to the story but shotguns while devastating, do not cut men in half or leave holes that you can look through.
I loved Split Trails Ranch, read it many
times and consider it to be a Classic
and one of the best ever work posted
here.
This...Wow...this was the cherry on the sundae,
and revealed some of their past and
how the W brothers became rich;
excellent prequel.
Many Thanks, Q., and feel free to further
explore this setting whenever the mood
strikes you.
Hurry and write the follow up story about Bradley Walters. Have read this story and Split Trails Ranch at least three times ..
It respectfully rivals any good tale of the West's early days. Some of it is hard to believe, but all the great epic tales share that, from the siege of Troy to Cuchulainn to the Vikings etc. etc. Couldn't have enjoyed it more.
I thought it was a rip-roaring story in the best of Western storytelling tradition. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it and found it to be well written and highly entertaining. I already have you bookmarked as a favorite writer and you did not disappoint me with this story. WELL DONE! I look forward to the next story or stories featuring Bradley J Walter's. I also think Zeke Walter's deserves a story or stories of his own.
You continue to impress with solid writing and great stories. I'm so glad that this won an award as well. Can't wait to see what else comes from your fertile mind!
If this was a paper book I would have been turning pages fast see what was going to happen next. This is a great Western story and really deserves all these kudos you have gotten . This continuing story would make a wonderful novel, Very entertaining.
I had to read Split Trails again when I saw you released this one, both are unbelievably good stories. I knew Elsa was going to die but it didn't stop the tears.
Excellent! Such a good read that I had to finish it and lose a little sleep. And congrats on your win. Much deserved. Thank-you for your writing talent
Congratulations on winning the contest for this story. Well deserved! Finn
Oops well I guess I have read too many books forgot I have read all your books I am aware!?. I have all the Bloodcost series and I do have your name book marked and following so I think I up to date but will check and look forward to your future western! Mostly read books and buy via the big A.
Enjoy your retirement but it sounds like I will also be enjoying it with my reading! Sadly not near retirement for me but I will keep working and reading on my off hours. Looking forward to your new writing work life. I sincerely appreciate your writing. Hope it continues to make you happy to write as it does me to read.
All right! I was wondering when you were going to publish or epublish a book (if you have already then I am missing out 🤔). Please drop a line in your Bio I will definitely be interested. I know of several who have Epublished and I have purchased many from writers who cut there writing teeth on this site. Several even admitted they got started on an adult website. As I have read from several stories ‘writing is writing’. Yes I follow you and have several favorites so please get the word out on a future novel western or otherwise.
Please do keep writing and I will keep reading!
Another excellent tale. I, personally, thought Split Trails was better, but not by much. Keep up the excellent writing!
Munchie184.
qhml1 rate your stories right there with Zane Grey & Louis Lamour . need to read Split trails again. this one is the lead into it!
