It’s still one of my favorite stories, I have read it several times and it’s still great. The only thing that is missing is the update for Angie, Carolyn and Stephanie are they still in love with Ed and what happened with them in the life of the neighborhood. Stephanie is talked about as the trip to France. Yet nothing else.

A good story series. A nice ending to your series.

Remarkable blessings. Nice that good people are rewarded. When face with overwhelming evil, Ed's alter ego emerges with righteous violence. This attribute is similar to, Billy Budd, another 'innocent'.

Outstanding, written with humanity, humility and humor. You've managed to bring forth from readers emotions, far beyond the sexual rises. This story,(trilogy) may well be one of the top five or ten stories on this service in this genre. Well done....and then some.

I just finished reading this trilogy and it is very different from stories I have usually read regarding Harems. I enjoyed this story immensely. Very well written and surprisingly wholesome. I can clearly see that you are a talented writer and can’t wait to dig into some of the other stories you have written.

I appreciate Mr Redstone's tales. Especially the longer ones where we get to know and love all the characters. The theme of one man and many women is one he works out wonderfully- Of course suspending belief is needed. But that is needed in most stories. Even Romeo and Juliet is not believable real life. This was not my favorite of Mr Redstone's stories. Each woman says she does not want to use Ed but each one does in their own way. Just once I wanted one of them to ask what he wanted. If he really just wants to make them happy, then he should be able to say so. They should have realized much earlier that Ed could not drink to excess. Each of the other stories, the male is perhaps not as "bright" or more that they are not in control of their own fate, but in each such as "Jack" or "Ben" they had some choice. Ed is great, loving, and wants everyone to be happy. I just wish the women in his life had given him more of choice. But all of that aside, once again Mr Redstone has created a story that keeps me reading and wanting more. That talent is a gift, and I am so very glad that I have found it finally. Trish A

I am hugely disappointed that BR didn't take the opportunity to delve more deeply into Grace's character, her feelings, motivations, lack of jealousy, and seeming to be ok with Ed going off with the other women and not being with her all the time. All that is kind of hard to figure ! And so much time and effort was spent on the other women's stories, doesn't seem fair that Grace didn't get the same treatment, and more !

Otherwise, an enjoyable almost Forrest Gump - like epic of Ed's crazy life. As long as your suspension of disbelief can stay intact !

Dear BR,

I am a straight male 65 year old WASP who hasn't had this much fun reading a series of stories since I was fourteen! It was at this time that I completed reading Robert Louis Stevenson's "Jekyll & Hyde" yarn.

I've been rereading all your Ed Walters and Ben Shepherd stories, while waiting for the last chapter of The Shepherd's Crook to be posted. Speaking of The Shepherd's Crook, I'm probably way to late to make this suggestion.

But I'll make it anyway. I cannot be the only fan of your work who'd love to see Ben adopt the little boy he rescued in the last chapter.

I've one more bug to place in your ear before I leave and quit pestering you. Please consider this scenario. What if Ed Walter's vile step mom (AKA "The Wicked Bitch of The North") should come home and discover that both her kids are living together, have 3 lovely daughters and are worth millions?

What do you suppose Ed's reaction would be should "grandma" abduct and ransom one or more of her granddaughters?! Sorry, but that's the only storyline I can come up with that might goad Ed into releasing his darker self to help get his kids back.

All The Best to You & Yours,

Cary

Amazing trilogy. I didn't even bother reading the sex bits in parts two and three. The characters felt believably people.

The only part that didn't sit right was the whole Tristan sexual assault (yes, it was. Ed was drunk, he thought it was Zoe). It would have been better if she hadn't gotten what she wanted from that.

That said, I did enjoy this very much.

Thanks for this terrific trilogy. The characters were engaging. The dialog was good, the plotting and pacing were good, and it never got repetitive. The book closed at just the right time. Great work.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 2 years ago

So....they were just cool with the fact Tristan raped Ed? The man they love and want to protect? They are supposed to help him understand and know when hes been

wronged and mistreated, and yet they sweep it under the rug because it's too messy to press charges? Just because he was technically conscious doesn't mean concent when he is black out drunk.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 2 years ago

So the women who are supposed to love Ed take turns carelessly allowing him to get drunk and be exploited by others when they aren't passing him around like some special needs man-child / living sex toy and sperm donor themselves. It's like a sadder version of Sheppard's Crook because the MC is emotionally and intellectually undeveloped. That aspect even made the sex scenes skip-able because it was kind of squicky to me with Ed's undeveloped mentality.

I also find all the unfinished threads annoying because some get picked up and others don't with all the extended cast of characters that pop into Ed's life. At one point I wondered if he even remembered that Grace was the main love in his life and was carrying his babies while he was off screwing his other dear loves. Just part of the ridiculousness of a harem theme I guess.

I read the first part and I rated it 5 stars because I liked it a lot, I read the second one and I could rate it only 3 stars because of some major issues and I began reading this third installment but I couldn't pass the first page because of a major disappointment, so I haven't rated this last part.

I'm sorry for not being able to give a positive review. When I read the first part, I thought I had discovered an author whose works I was gonna enjoy, but after reading the second part and the beginning of this third party I could see that I had been wrong and I'm really sorry because it's so difficult to find stories one can fully enjoy...

Great story great characters. I have been binge reading your stories first Ben's now Ed's thanks now on to another

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 years ago

As this is the last story of the trilogy, my comments are going to be referencing all three a bit, just fyi.

If I'm being completely honest, I think I prefer your Ben Shepard character over Ed Walters. I found myself becoming uncomfortable at times with his pseudo-child persona in the adult situations. I know he was over 18 in the three stories, but his innocence (implied autism?) made me feel like I was reading about someone much younger. Maybe it's just me, but that dampened my enjoyment of an otherwise solid tale.

I also felt like the way Eds rape, let's be honest - that's what it was, was not handled very well in the overall story. There was almost no focus on the victim of the abuse, on Ed. It was all about why the rape happened, and "let's feel sorry for Tristan". Almost like they were saying that Ed was a simpleton so it obviously wouldn't affect him and others should just forgive and forget because Tristan needed it and he was right there for the taking. That's basically victim shaming and a vile portrayal of abuse. If the genders were reversed, the outrage would be palpable. The "pantsing" he received on the fishing boat in Barbados was handled with more outrage than his rape was! The whole forgiveness scene when the truth was revealed felt hollow and ridiculous with no repercussions. Others may not feel the same way, but it was a major issue for me.

All that said though...I loved, LOVED, the supporting characters. Each woman's story and their individual arcs with Ed were amazing and well developed. Each had their own unique personality and interactions and it was completely engrossing. My favorite was Carolyn...her backstory was inspired. The tattoo, the lost tribe, her marriage, her interactions with Ed. Him discovering the music in the tattoo...how did you come up with that?? That was incredible!

Overall, I have to say that in the hierarchy of authors on this site, BurntRedstone is definitely royalty and deserves all the accolades he receives for his talent and generosity in sharing it with us.

I found it hard to put down, really kept my attention. Probably best to keep Ed away from the booze. Funny how he could fuck many of the girls and not get them pregnant except those who wanted children. I expected to see several of the girls pushing baby carriers down the neighborhood street. And those girls were amazing when they had sex. Everyone had orgasms with every sexual encounter. Highly unlikely, but fun! A good story. I don’t know how you keep all the people straight in your head, and keep them in well described apparel and activities that seemed to blend seamlessly.

I came for the sex, but stayed for the story.

I liked the majority of this trilogy, but I'm not sure that I liked Psycho Ed all that much. Makes me think that if he has that much of a personality swing after a few drinks, maybe he should be in counseling? Talk about a mean drunk! The idea that the women he had sex with while drunk had to sit on cushions and couldn't function very well physically the next day speaks to them being abused by a drunk, not loved by someone who didn't know what he was doing. Drinking is never an excuse for sexual abuse, especially after he did it numerous times to several women he supposedly loves. Yeah, I've changed my mind, he definitely needs counseling.

And the women don't get off easily either. One thing that bothered me throughout the trilogy was how the women in his life kept buying him pants/shorts/swim trunks that were so tight they emphasized the size of his cock. They all knew the story of his high school embarrassment, but even though he complained many times about his pants being to tight, these women, who supposedly loved him and protected him, constantly sent him into social situations in which he felt embarrassed. That tells me that they are little better than the high schoolers who tormented him. Many of these social occasions led him to further embarrassment and awkward situations due to his cock being on nearly constant display in the tight pants they bought for him and insisted he wear in public. They, too, are abusive individuals, just as much as Shirley ever was. Now that I think about it, they ALL need family counseling!

But, as the saying goes, "We're all flawed individuals and nobody's perfect." The things I mentioned above didn't keep me from being enthralled by the story to the point where I have several novels on library loan that have been sitting unread while I kept returning to this saga to find out what was coming next.

I don't often choose to read long stories on Lit, usually looking for a quicker satisfaction, but as I said at the beginning, "I came for the sex, but stayed for the story."

A Wonderful Story. All three books.

Too bad it's over.

There are only two rosachos in the characters: Victoria, who never returned from England, and Isabella, who by her marriage has only alienated herself more from Ed. But that's probably the right thing to do. After all, they didn't love him.

Although Isabella could have been the woman who, together with Grace, could have given birth to Ed's "legitimate" recognized children. Boys. ;)

Or maybe her we Max by Ed? ;) One can fantasize. The substitute here could be Sophia, Zoe's daughter.

On the modern trend of late marriages and births. Stephanie and Katherine could also have a baby. And as the cherry on the cake, Rachel's baby.

But let's respect the author's vision. If he decides to continue Ed's story, I'd love to read it.

Reading this stories is a lot like Don Juan meets Forest Gump. For the most part its all right, but there are some cringy moments as he has harem interactions. For the most part I liked these stories, but I'm a bit annoyed as I'm working through Stephanie's bumpkin past. It propagates the dumb country folk and the elite city folk. What do you think farmers do after they plant their crops. Some of them read. As someone who lives in suburbia, I am working my way toward the country not the city, because I've found the group existence of man in city divorces him from reality and makes him stupid. Bernay's "propaganda" and Russell's impact of science on society make this clear.

There is also further the controlling father trope that echoes the dowry system in the same sequence. First off this is America. There are no arranged marriages. Second the dowry system existed so fathers could set their daughters up with good husbands. I have an acquaintance whose daughter is trying to get pregnant with a guy she has known for six or seven months at 18. She would benefit from the dowry system. But when you get the father out of the decision making process for their daughter's mates you find them making decisions of passion rather than wise romantic choices. My mom, a lifetime democracat, has said something to the effect of she wouldn't have minded her dad had had that opportunity. (My parents were divorced after seven years, my grandpa, however, was my mothers biggest advocate until the day he died.)

I don't know what I expect, because this isn't exactly high brow. This just propagates some damaging tropes, whether conscious of them or not.

I keep coming back to this story, but I can never finish it. While I think it's an adorable story, I just can't support pro rape sentiment. I don't know you, or why you think rape is okay, or why all the characters just glossed over it and no one cared and it was all smiles, but it's seriously fucked up. Rape's never okay and just because he's autistic doesn't make it any better, honestly it probably makes it a lot worse.
