He made it clear to Annie that Dylan needs to be out of the picture completely in Ch 2 and then verifies at the beginning that he is out of the picture and when he learns that Dylan isn't going away so easily he makes it clear that he will help her over dinner. So as the Dominant he isn't sticking to his own rules.

The slut-shaming is a heavy emotional hurdle for the majority of women, more so for your average teenage babysitter, he was cruel with her. Disconnect mentioned by someone else also extends to his own feelings on whatever this budding relationship is.
