The highlight of the festivities at the farm was an elaborate fireworks display to honor America's birthday. The fireworks provided a fascinating thrilling spectacle for the children in attendance. In particular Maia was awed as in her mind, it seemed like the national holiday festivities celebrating Estonia's independence paled in comparison. That day was especially noteworthy for Maia as it was the first occasion in her memory which caused her to reflect seriously on her American citizenship. It was also an additional impetus for her to learn English.
