This is really well written. The tension was tight.

The romance part of this story was sweet - very real and relatable. Despite it being a main part of the story, I didn’t like the Dom/sub part. I never like that dynamic - I guess I just don’t at all understand how that is hot for people. As even the characters in the story said, to me a dom would hate himself for demeaning and hurting others for pleasure and a sub would be so embarrassed, humiliated and feel worthless to enjoy being that way. So that is all just so illogical to me. But this was a good story in spite of all of that.

Part of me wishes that Ihaka had stubbornly put off acknowledging his feelings, and blurted out an I love you during their weekend instead of calling it before hand. You're dialogue is so natural it would have been a really exciting climax (romantically speaking). Hell maybe Everett could have been the first one to slip. Who knows!

Regardless, great story and characters. Absolutely phenomenal! Any chance for a part 2?

I don’t normally comment on comments… I just silently read the criticism and vow to try harder… but, Dearest Anonymous… what do you MEAN? So I never set out to write interracial as a plot point, although I can see I do. It’s just writing what you know for me, and mostly my scene is not particularly homogenous. And I am the last person who would sit you down and force you to read a stupidly long BDSM romance because that’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and I write ungodly long stories sometimes. But since you really couldn’t get through like, the first page, where Ihaka gets annoyed about his name being pronounced wrong and calls Everett a ‘poor little white boy struggling with the natives and their naming conventions’ I’ll spell it out. Ihaka is Māori, Everett is white, my apologies for not being crystal clear in the text, ha ha.

Great work DrHenderson! I found this randomly for a quick wank but got hooked by the chemistry between Ihaka and Everett! The sex scenes were hot, but I really loved the growth of their relationship first as dom/sub then as boyfriends. I've never been into d/s before content before, but you've changed my mind!!

I almost never read stories past 3 pages, but once I started this, I was invested. I'm also a sucker for enemies to lovers, so kudos.

One complaint: the dialogue blocking threw me off. I was confused at times about who was saying what because you'd have Everett say one thing and Ihaka react without a line break. Idk if this is a stylistic choice, but a suggestion from one writer to another: when one character does something and another character does something else or reacts/responds, add a line break.

For example: "Oh no." He said flatly. "Those big hands wrapped all around my neck..." I sighed.

should be

"Oh no." He said flatly. "Those big hands wrapped all around my neck..."

I sighed. "You're a fucking nightmare."

But otherwise, good job!

I love this story, because it is so different than other stories of this author.

The other I read, are just about sluts going slutty. I read 4 stories of this author and I was so annoyed that his main characters are slutty as hell, that there can't be just "one on one" interaction but must be fucking some random useless dicks on the side. So annoying. The example being the story about two guys meeting after some time and one of them randomly shagging some captain on the ship. I stopped following the author after that, accepting that I this is his style, just sluts are his main heroes.

But what a nice surprise with this story! I gave him chance again and wow, don't regret it, finally there was no "third person" element in their relationship to slut around. What a breath if a fresh air! God! The voting (4.95) on this story should be a hint for author that one on one interaction without squeezing fucking randoms on the way, maybe is not such a bad idea?

Anyway. I hope that at least from time to time author will create cool romance gay stories without the slutty element. Maybe even with first timers. I will be waiting and reading carefully, checking if there is slutting or no ;)

But anyway! You do you. Every writer writes what he wants. Ok, I get that you like write this, but please, if you can force yourself to write "one one one" stories also from time to time, please do. Because you are TRULY great author and you shine, like with this story. Thank you for that.

This was such a great story! I breezed through 10 pages because their relationship captivated me. I'm not into BDSM Dom/Sub stuff so I almost didn't read it, but I'm so glad I did! I love Ihaka. I love that it's the big strong masc presenting guy that is really a sub kitten. I love that you delved into his character a little, gave us a glimpse of him with his last abusive Dom to distinguish how much better Everett is for him. I ADORE Everett! I love how you also delved into his character too, gave us his hopes, his dreams, his fears. I love that Everett is a true Dom who believes in aftercare and took care of Ihaka every time. They fit so well together, it warmed my heart. And I also loved how both sets of flat mates just casually accepted their relationship. That made me happy too. I've read some of your other stories and I have to agree with Anon, this was the best one so far. You truly do have a gift.

I read this a month ago and am still thinking about it! I clicked on it from one of the competitions. I didn’t realize it was going to be a gay relationship (I usually read cis-het stories) but I was hooked pretty quickly and loved it. You really got an interesting and sweet narrative going with very sexy scenes.

Excellent story. My eyes and dick leaked as I read. Would love to read even more about this relationship. As a sub, this is a great story of the real side of this kink as it isn't all just whips and rope.

Okay, it's the morning after my first comment, and I just need to point out a few more things I love this story. I'm not part of the BDSM community and have only been reading fiction about it but:

1. I really like their discussion about their limits etc. I think a lot of writers tend to skip that part because they don't know how to make it funny and also relevant to the story? Idk. You did super great though.

2. The explicit consent. It's necessary, but when people say consent is sexy? If people want examples, this piece is Exhibit A.

3. A Dom who is smaller than the sub? Yes please.

4. And they switch positions without switching roles? YES PLEASE.

What a great story, loved it, and I loved the length of it, not rushed paced perfectly.

if I had to make a personal suggestion, I would have love the breakup to have been a bit longer. Uncomfortable first seeing each other, sad looks across the room, whose that they are talking to, really pull at the readers heart strings, But then again it probably better the way you wrote it.

OK so I’m halfway through the story and I had to write this comment before I forgot everything I want to say the beginning hit me so hard that I stopped reading it I guess I felt I can see myself a little in the jocks, my inner sub fort for dominance against my more dominant side, and as I continue to read the story, I was so turned on wondering why I never gave in to my submissive side I guess I’ve never had a partner that made me feel comfortable, so it was great. It is great to see it in your story. Now I’m a get back to the rest of it.

Love the Star Wars, X-men, and Star Trek references and the ending was really sweet I’ll be the first to admit that the story awakened feelings I haven’t felt since I was really young the story was really great and I could see it being a future movie or a short show
