So I just jump up, grab her and kiss her deeply. She's moaning happily and returns my kiss feverishly. I start to grope her breasts and she encourages me by pressing them into my hand. I finally break the kiss and drag her along into my bedroom. She follows me eagerly. After reaching my bed, we frantically strip naked and just ravish each other. Without any foreplay we just begin to kiss and fuck. It's pretty standard missionary sex, but it's fantastic, sensuous, very erotic, like a dream. And it's quite cold as we've jumped into the bed while being completely soaked through. We still move in perfect harmony during sex, knowing exactly what the other needs. It's like the two years haven't happened. We still make sure she comes first and we both know the right gentle movements for it. Her climax seems to be extremely intense. I give her a few moments to recover and we both take care of my release afterwards. She showers me with small kisses meanwhile. Finally my orgasm sears through my brain with an unknown intensity and I'm glad we have no neighbors that might hear my grunting. A lot of pent up emotions seem to leave my body in that moment. Anna watches me with tears in her eyes.

Afterwards we lie on the bed and I wonder what has just happened. The women I love has killed my sexuality and has revived it again. She has inflicted a trauma and has started to cure me again. No other human being has that much power over me. I can't even say that I don't care about it. I'm glad that this has happened. Hell, I'm overjoyed if I'm honest.

"Thank you, Anna."

"You're kidding, are you? Never thank me, not ever. For anything. I'm so far into your debt, I can never make up for it in this life-time. Although I'll keep trying. Thank you for letting me back into your life. Whatever this will lead to in the long run. That will be entirely your choice. You can have me in any way you want."

I don't reply and just nod off, feeling rather happy.

xx

A few days later, we're sitting on my deck again. We have made love a lot since that first time. Nothing is off limits. I don't expect it or ask for it, but she wants to do everything she can sexually. She's very submissive and grateful. It's some kind of male dream. A beautiful woman, devoting her life to make me happy.

The weather is fine, not a single cloud can be seen.

"Ralf, thanks for taking me back that quickly. Just to let you know, I would have tried for years. There would have been no time limit. I really have dedicated my life to you."

"You know that you helped me a lot? But I'm not the old Ralf and I think I never will be again."

"Yes, you've matured. I've caused this, in a very cruel way."

"Yeah, but unintentionally. You've been sick. And you've also healed me. No one could stand me any more. No one endured my presence. You did."

"Yes, but we're not good, are we?"

"No, I still don't trust you completely. You've blindsided me once."

She nods. "What about regular drug tests? Just for you, I'm quite sure that I won't fall again anyway."

I think about it.

"And a prenup to protect you?"

I just nod.

"And kids maybe? With sole custody for you in case we ever split up or one of my drug tests comes up positive."

"A prenup, sole custody? That's pretty harsh. And not legal anyway." And I'm really not sure about kids.

"Yeah, but I've also been pretty harsh on you."

I have to laugh. "No doubt about that."

I think about this for a while. "Anna, this is too quick for me. I'd rather not think about kids or marriage right now. It scares me."

"I see. Don't worry. I'm happy as it is."

We continue to watch the sea and the sky in silence. After what feels like an eternity, I come to a conclusion.

"The dog has returned," I state. The sky is absolutely cloudless.

"Yes. Against all odds. But it's a sheep."

We both have to laugh.

I liked the story very much. It was both sad and gut wrenching what Ralf went thru. And I think the reconciliation went a bit too fast and too easy for Anna given what she'd done to Ralf. I'm certain I could not so quickly forgive or accept a cheating wife who became a prostitute, knowing she had probably had sex with hundreds of other men. It would require much more regret, repentance, and restitution on her part.

2nd tomee reading it...it's good, but somehow bad...is it her redemption...his rebirth...I think it's a well done peice of writing that beats the rote repetition of many writers

This has been one of the most thought provoking stories I've read in a long time. Really enjoyed how they both interacted, slow but steady, to begin their new relationship... Boring? No. Slow to build? Maybe. Emotional? Yes, in a good way. 5 big stars for a wonderful tale of reconciliation of two broken lovers...

You say in the forward: "this story might be regarded as exceedingly boring".

How can you possibly think that? This is one of the best stories on here. Also one of the most original. 5 stars. Cool story man

Very well written and thought-provoking. At first read thru, I might have liked to see reconciliation with his friends. But think it will happen anyway and so really not necessary for the story. Thanks for sharing.

Read again. I'm not sure I would have taken her back but then again, I'm not psychologically damaged so he surely gets a pass. This story strikes me as art. It's make a living from writing good.

Brilliant writing. Third reading, and I continue to find new things at which to marvel. He locked his emotional self in the abyss, but she had the key—she was the personification of the weather and the sea, which sustained him until she returned.

I think the people arguing against this reconciliation are just projecting their own feelings and not taking into account Ralf's situation. As paradoxically as it sounds, Anna is the only one who can undo the damage that Anna caused to Ralf and even if he never becomes the "old Ralf" (and I suspect he never will) whatever happiness he can achieve is directly related to having a relationship with his ex-wife. It's poignantly sad that even after he has emotionally abandoned the world, the only thing that endures and remains is his love for Anna. He cannot rid himself of the root cause of his pain. In that sort of situation, how could Ralf make any decision other than the one he had? In fact, this is probably the best outcome for him, because if Anna herself had been just a bit more selfish, or a bit less damaged, she would have tried to put the past behind her and move on - and I suspect she knows that this would be the best thing to do for her, but just like Ralf - she can't quit him. I know more than one couple like Anna and Ralf in this way. Two people who just simply are tied together no matter what - no matter how much they fight or hurt each other, or even try to get with other people, they always come back together. It's their fate and it's generally a tragic one because even though they can't rid themselves of each other, they also seem to be unable to bridge the gaps that keep pushing them apart. One can only hope that in this case, Anna and Ralf can make it work, because I think the alternative for them both would be horrible.

A very excellent and thought provoking story. 5/5

Agree with prior commenters about Anna's immense betrayal, but on the flip side she us the only one who can stand his emotionless demeanor and at the same time (apparently) the only one who can make him feel. Pretty sure the end is a deep metaphor for reconciliation but for a new Anna with a new and dated Ralf. The old Ralf would never be able to forgive or reconcile. How could he? But the new and damaged Ralf has nothing in his life but the new Anna. Author makes it pretty clear that the damage to his emotional centers means he cannot properly process the memory of her betrayals, both the direct and the indirect. But even him saying he does not trust her completely is a big deal. The new Anna's abject devotion is changing him. Ans she isn't doing it only out of remorse. No one would shoulder the immense burden of the new, damaged Ralf only due to remorse. Her drug habit destroyed both their lives, him in a much more devastating way. The Old Anna was an illusion throughout most or all of their short marriage. Objectively to the normal reader, the fact that she is the one who is able to reach the MC and help heal him, while potentially loathsome for some, is immaterial, because she is the ONLY one either willing or capable of getting through to him. So all that matters is the MC's subjective feelings about the new Anna. And so far she has bigger impact in a positive way in just a few weeks than anyone or anything else in two years. While the story leaves the ending open, the metaphor for watching clouds meand he has accepted thr new Anna into his life and they will be together. Possibly as he begins to feel more, though we don't know to what extent, some.negative emotions like anger and resentment will arise. But suspect the new Anna will not only tolerate those but perform whatever penance to appease those emotions. The point is that with her, he feels again. And to him it is feels good to feel and the lady thing he wants is to go back to an existence where he is waiting to get old and die. So yeah objectively what Anna did to him was off the charts horrifying, both direct and indirect betrayals, but the author set up such that shenis the only one who can make his life remotely even a little happier. Hence their reconciliation, while a.work.in progress at the end of the story, is more or less predestined as they wtahc the clouds. She is devoted to the new Ralf and rhe new Ralf can feel some.measure of happiness with the new Anna. Dark, deep, but also poignant story about humanity and human relationships. Essentially his emotional malaise and the trauma from the pimps vicious assault was a huge rest button. And to be fair, no one else was associating with him. Seems asinine to wish for the new Ralf to die alone. What would be the point? This ending while unexpected is the only one that can be considered remotely happy.

Surprisingly enjoyable a metaphor in a story and well done.
