'Thank you Di, that was very thoughtful of you' he said smiling at her warmly.
She almost wriggled with pleasure at his praise and ran off to make some tea.
'I'm surprised you can sit down Mabel' said Alison with a grin, 'we could hear you howling from up here.'
Mabel smiled back and stuck her tongue out.
'What do you think of my decision to sell up?' continued Alison looking directly at Mabel.
'What decision was that then?' asked Jane munching on one of John's sandwiches.
'Have I missed something?' asked John.
Mabel took a deep breath; she had been hoping that Alison wouldn't bring up such a momentous change in the presence of them all.
'Boys and girls, Alison suggested selling Armatage Hall, and moving into the village to be nearer us.'
Jane's mouth stopped chewing and she looked with shock at Alison sitting opposite.
John looked at Mabel, uncertain as to the implications of this news.
Diana who had just walked back into the room heard the news and squealed with delight, nearly spilling the tea tray.
'Oh Mistress what a fantastically clever thing to think of.
It will be lovely to live in such a nice place as John's village.
When are we moving?'
Jane looked daggers at John,' Did you know about this?' she asked quietly.
'Fuck me Jane, no I had no fucking idea at all,' he protested sincerely.
Mabel's heart went out to Jane.
She saw her shoulders slump with the realisation; that they perhaps weren't going to leave her rivals behind after all.
'I thought you would be pleased,' said Alison looking directly at John's crotch.
Both John and Mabel noticed her fixation on his cock.
Luckily Jane was still looking at the floor, desperately trying to think of reasons to forestall such an earth-shattering event.
'The Horses, what about the Horses, they will need a stables and lots and lots of land.
Mabels flat is far too small for Alison's horses' she gabbled.
Alison smiled serenely at Jane.
'I can put my horses into Livery until I buy a suitable property.
Who knows,' she said laughing,' we could become a commune and all live together as one happy family.
'Oh Fuck me, oh fuck me backwards,' whispered Jane to herself.
