Nice build up, and tastefully descriptive. I loved it

good story, quite pleasing, but an editor would help catch sentence fragments, homophones, etc.

Examples:

aquaintance --> acquaintance

discretely --> discreetly (quietly and gently, not singly or separately)

mere moments after laying down Belinda laid back --> mere moments after lying down Belinda lay back (lie & lay, verb intransitive, which takes no object; not lay & laid, verb transitive)

Oh could you lay back Lien I'd like to --> Oh, could you lie back, Lien? I'd like to
