This series had a wonderful start with the three youngsters' love for each other. This ended with John and Alyssa/Alice sharing their history.

It is illogical that Alyssa/Alice would stay with her father if the blackmail could become ineffectual by breaking ties with him. Also, by staying, in addition to her father's abuse, Alyssa/Alice would have continued to endure the town's censure -- not only about her history with her brother, but with the addition of her ongoing relationship with her father.

I will read no more chapters.
