All Comments on 'My Own Heaven Ch. 18'

I have long thought/suspected that the "Doms" in BDSM were simply abusers hiding under the premise that the submissives want to be humiliated and abused and that the Doms were simply meeting the Sub's needs and acting as their more or less loving protectors. In general I have avoided these stories, but occasionally have found myself reading a chapter or two.<P>

The first chapter of this story showed me that my suspicions are correct. When you act as an agent, protector, guardian or regent for a person or entity you are expected to act in an ethical manner and avoid all situations that would put your needs, wants, desires or self interest in conflict with the needs, wants, desires, self interest or protection of the person or entity you are acting for. I will concede that a Dom could act in good faith for a Sub as long as the Dom takes no pleasure or gratification from meeting the 'perceived' needs of the Sub. When a good parent punishes a child, the child may view the punishment as abuse, but it is not if all of the following three factors are met:<BR>

1- it is done in love<BR>

2- it is measured to fit the offense and the child and<BR>

3- the parent takes <B>NO pleasure</B> from it<BR>

If any of those three factors are not met the action is most probably abusive<P>

As soon as a Dom takes any pleasure or gratification from his/her interaction with or treatment of the Sub s/he is placing his/her needs/desires in conflict with those of the Sub. If the pleasure or gratification is sexual in nature it is virtually certain that s/he will abuse the the Sub. As soon as you do abuse the Sub in any way, you (oops the Dom) become(s) just another sleazy abuser.<P>

In the first chapter of this story Keith acknowledges that he will enjoy his humiliation of Heather. In most of the BDSM stories I have read the plot focuses as much or more attention on the enjoyment of the Dom/abuser as on the enjoyment of the Sub/victim. In fact most of them focus almost entirely on the Dom's/abuser's enjoyment of abusing the Sub/victim.

2. I always thought sexual activity of any type was for MUTUAL satisfaction

3. Get a life. This is not the place to pontificate on you own petty prejudices.

4. If you don't like it - DON'T READ IT!!!

You have based a long detailed ethical point on a false premise. By equating a D/s and parent/child relationship you use faulty logic and so come to the wrong conclusion. Only adults, by which I mean those mentally mature, can truly consent to D/s. This does place trust in a Dom, but I do not see why that responsibility should preclude enjoyment. I also wonder after 17 earlier chapters why you choose to object now? -- UK CYNIC
