The writing was excellent in terms of expressing what (I think) you are trying to tell us about the main characters.

In terms of the actual story, some have said the the male character is a wimp or idiot, but I don't see that. We don't all see our wives a cheats - but the 5 hours away on new years eve should have been explained. I feel sorry for the husband - locked in a role that is forcing him into what would appear to be a serious depression.

What will happen next though. She wanted more in the morning - why? Why couldn't she have gone home and gotten it? Was it because the new guy "... made her laugh"? Well, she is not supporting her husband in any way. He needs the support just as much as she needs his "strength".

Unfortunately, as the story name suggests, Pandora's Box is open and I can't see their relationship surviving. She will begrudge her husband for making her feel bad - whilst relishing the "happy" times with the new man.

many, if not most, of us are here to read STORIES as they are being told by a story teller. we are not here to grade whether someone has impeccable grammar of sophistication in many sophisticated cleverness. we are here to "see" if the story makes us feel hopeful and good or irritated and negative and unsettling. This is a very polarizing story, judging from many of the sometimes mean-spirited and visceral comments. Don't be discouraged by them. It's clear your story has struck a raw nerve with some of the readers and that's good, in my opinion.

Intriguing storyline; perhaps a prequel is in order to flesh out the setting of the current story? Love to read how it all turned out.
