So eloquent, such a perfect blend of emotions thru delicate words you wrote in every prose. With that, I am speechless................. * soft smile *

You've quoted the incredible Mr. Zimmerman in your first stanza: 'forever young', and like him, your poetry evokes past memories and present hopes. Without wanting to sound too pretentious, those last two lines of all are so important in a world ravaged by war, greed, hate and stupidity. You have shown that it's not just your prose that is powerful and effective. 5 stars for this effort, Pixiehoff, together with my gratitude and admiration. It's perfect.

Love as gentle as summer rain is, in our memories a relief from the life's heat that seems to burn us.

Thanks for sharing this romantic poem.

“Freighted with memories of remembered love” — so poignantly true. Want to distinguish remembered love from trying to relive the “glory days”. Thoughtful poem.

A beautiful poem to celebrate your love and their love.

Seeing this love through your eyes allows the intimacy and tenderness to glow and warm us.

Wonderful. Thank you.

It's long been one of my regrets that I am no good at writing poetry. I have tried and thrown away my efforts in disgust. It's lovely to see that you have the knack, Pixie. The final verse in particular of this poem gripped me: "...a fading picture... of a fading old [person]..." When you get to my age, you have more than your share of fading pictures, not necessarily material ones but those in your memory. Thanks for this lovely piece of writing, Pixie---I think it's something I will return to often.

Such a beautiful phrase here, " Those smiles remind me of your kiss, an act of love drawn forth by his love, and of the hopes it generated." Love can be complicated and messy, but thru hope, it is worth it.

The fountains mingle with the river

And the rivers with the ocean,

The winds of heaven mix for ever

With a sweet emotion;

Nothing in the world is single,

All things by a law divine

In one another's being mingle—

Why not I with thine?

See the mountains kiss high heaven,

And the waves clasp one another;

No sister-flower would be forgiven

If it disdain'd its brother;

And the sunlight clasps the earth,

And the moonbeams kiss the sea—

What is all this sweet work worth

If thou kiss not me?

"where what might have beens live still"... that is a fantastic line.

Gorgeous piece with all the vagueness that poetry allows - makes me ponder the twists of that relationship. The concluding reference is encapsulating. So many memories.
