It's long been one of my regrets that I am no good at writing poetry. I have tried and thrown away my efforts in disgust. It's lovely to see that you have the knack, Pixie. The final verse in particular of this poem gripped me: "...a fading picture... of a fading old [person]..." When you get to my age, you have more than your share of fading pictures, not necessarily material ones but those in your memory.
