Must it all come in a blindin' flash or jiffy ----
If one has to work hard on his or her poem
Is it not , Dear Reader , poetry ???
you do a lot of things right, but you do have a real tendency to go off with bad ideas, in America there is a phrase 'running with scissors' i.e. don't, walk, sit down and use the scissors. Think, edit.I've seen good stuff, and well...let's leave it at that. Try more comments on others mentioning specifics. I know you are well read.
Ash, you are going to make me feel old and grouchy in answering this. I think poetry a combination of inspiration and work, self questioning, and editing. Sometimes, if you are really lucky, it can come in a flash. I don't question whether something is a poem, I question whether it is as good an effort as the poet can offer for that particular poem.
& it feels great to be simultaneously assessed as a devil & a philosopher !!! Must have done somethin' right , guys !!
Poetry IS work. ...but, there are times it just pours from somewhere inside you; that is the creative side and perhaps the most honest side of the, dare I say, craft. Some are better at paring away the thick skin that covers the apple. It just depends on how much fiber you need. :) A five for the target you painted.
you're a fucking devil, mean that as. it this, yes! You're wasting your time on Tazz.
taz is a bot. NSA sends out to see if any poetry is being done.....

Must it all come in a blindin' flash or jiffy ----?
see a doctor
If the next question is, is poetry work?
it's fucking hard work
Does it have to be killing serious?
No!!!!!!!!! sometimes it's fuckinfun!!!!!!
hi-five
although agree with UYS, but if you don't piss people off from time to time
are you doing your job?
no need to rush it, but if it reminds you of constipation then you are straining, time to change your diet---the work comes in rendering clean what nature has presented---that is the work aspect, but the germ of it is like a child slipping through the pelvic girdle--natural and wet--towel it dry and snip its cord
you are a great philosopher---butt do not gaze at the stars alone, it is the women bent over in the field that feeds us! and when our hunger is saited then she is ours
but I have only just started in this poetry jaunt and so almost everything I have written has been spur of the moment, minimal to no editing and served up with no curing. even my most recent work has had little editing excluding the last Tavvy Tale I posted.
To make great poetry surely, editing, working and thinking have to be involved. As with all crafts the more you work at it the better you get at producing a more refined finished product.
On the other hand if you go through the forum and look at the writing live threads, the 5 senses poem challenge you will see to quote HarryHill "remarkable" work written straight off the top of the head......
so as it seems with most poetry debates it just ends up the way it is however you write it. sorry for offering no closure but wouldn't you rather ponder some more?
