loved your poem Lauren. I too am a big fan of Nirvana and feel the great loss to the world. Such a tragic waste of talent. Thank you for sharing :)
This poem was mentioned in Wednesday's New Poems Reviews. And a special congrats for that little greenie!

As a reaction to a personal loss or to loosing a spiritual/
Inspirational person or a group of people, we find that a protective image we had which surrounded both ourselves and the person who died hade been shattered. We build that screen, mostly unknowingly, and it protects us from the face of death itself, as naked of meaning hopes and with no personal story attached to it.
Some who face loss can be outraged by the fact that the person they lost was stripped from the protective image they created and in doing so have robbed them from the same.
Coming back to accept memories as such is forgiving the dead for leaving us, and holding on to what they left with us.
What a eulogy!
such a bittersweet tribute to a musician I admire so much.
ps, congrats on the E
