Stay All Night

We were naked
no big shock
we had been
around the block,
Once or twice
a time or two
not perfect
but it would do,

Established us
as a couple
a noun
fairly supple,
Open to
interpretation
the nature of
our relation,

So put on shirts
put on pants
returned to
the cosmic dance,
Refilled our drinks
trying not to grin
our secret
once again,

This went on
for about a year
lots of wine
too much beer,
Considerable after-
-noon delight
some even
late at night,

But then we both
went different ways
just one
of those days,
When our house
of cards fell down
it was time
to leave town,

Chalk it up
to experimentation
just an un-
-planned vacation,
Fun while it lasted
was alright
but never once
did we stay all night,
