the landscape in her absence
withers
the forest unfulfilled
incomplete
the grassland waves to no one
though dry flesh-colored limbs
whisper
caressing serpentine hills
soft against the bearded rock
her gentle flesh goes missing
driven
long gone the wealthy moor the vale
bare
her canvas
no more wanders rests or smiles
craving
holy earth
her wholesome foot
falls now an icy ghost
tumbling
phantom spray o’er turquoise runs
empty
parched in endless carbon sun
call her back
say yes
open arms legs hearts
minds to naked knowing making
whole her green relief
the land the sea the woody veil
mossy knoll and leaf
give cover plenty
no more drive her from our gaze
else maddened
we set to war and endless grief
