I replaced the engine in our truck with one several years newer that had hydraulic lifters and a full oil pressure system, instead of the dip oiler. It was very reliable and very quiet after that. It was converted to a 12 volt electrical system also.
I loved that truck. And that long, flat bench seat made things like this (and more) possible. Much harder in a modern truck with "bucket" seats and a big console down the middle.
I hear you Goat. I still have by Granddad’s 74 Chevy El Camino. Probably won’t be driving it to Arizona, but I love it.
