"I guess we will find out," he says.
"I want to stay."
"Well that's not up to you."
"Fine," I say, my voice turning to ice.
He walks me to the front door and waits while I put on my shoes. I'm a tear-streaked mess. My dress sticks to my body. Nothing like an afternoon walk of shame.
"Why are you doing this?"
"It's for your own good," he says, unlocking the door and holding it open for me. I step out into the sunshine and turn back although I'm not sure what I expect to happen now.
"Get home safe," he says.
"You're such a fucking asshole."
He smiles at that. "If I'm still not out of your system tomorrow then I expect you to be here at eight pm. Sharp."
"What happens then?"
"Sharp," he says and closes the door on me.
