I thought this was well written overall, but the ending felt rushed and I was left feeling unsatisfied. I'm also a little unclear on what exactly Jim and Wendy were trying to accomplish. Were they trying to just make her a human again? Or were they trying to undo the whole drone thing and make her the person she was before?
Either way they failed, they just ended up bolting a human personality (potentially a drones idea of what a human personality is?) that exists give the drone orders to make it happy, creating a feedback loop that continually reinforces what they're trying to undo. Also why would this task be entrusted only to a former trainer and a lawyer? At the very least you'd have a therapist or a psychiatrist.
Very well written. Appropriately uncomfortable, but realistic outcome for the story.
