I'm not sure who the main character is. The one with the perspective of the audience doesn't move the story forward. Should this not be about Ellie who seems like the main character and her "weird friend"?

Absolutely love where this story is going!! Was only gonna read a couple chapters today but you’ve completely hooked me. Love your style too, very well written. Can’t wait to read what happens next! :)
