After three months of our honeymoon, we felt it was time to return home. We packed our things and sent the luggage on ahead to the airport. We stopped by a recommended liquor shop, where I bought three cases of single malt whiskey and two cases of both red and white wines. I figured I owed Carl a case after all he's done for me. While on the drive to the airport, I happened to see a dirty mother and daughter selling fruit on the roadside. I told the driver to stop right beside them. He braked a little hard and yanked the limo over to the side of the road.

Just as he did, a large SUV coming towards us from a side street blew a tire and lost control, slamming into a concrete barrier and sending two bodies through the windshield, and then caught fire. Ishmael and I ran over to see if we could help in any way. We both pulled up short when we recognized Gregor with his walker and another man pinned in the wreckage. I looked at the bodies that went through the windshield, one was already dead, and the other looked like an older version of Gregor, bloodied all over, still trying to pull his gun. he died as we watched.

I turned to the Mother with her daughter. I took what euros I had left and put it in her hand, "Find yourself a proper place to live, eat, and clean up, then in a few days, go to my candy factory. You will find a job waiting for you. Tell them Roy sent you." We got back into the limo and sped away, and I called Alay to expect her and find a job that she could do.

When we arrived at the airport, I had to pay the tax for shipping the liquor to the States. I was finishing up when a customs agent asked to see my ring. "I was noticing your ring. May I ask you how you came by it?" I told her the story. She seemed somewhat surprised, "The carvings show that it is a ring of protection for its wearer, but the language isn't spoken anymore, and only a handful know how to read it." I was surprised, "My Mother works for the museum, and I used to help her with her research. You are very fortunate to find such a piece."

I thought about what happened on the way to the airport, "You have no idea how fortunate," I said.

Then we boarded the plane to take us home.

Great outline for a longer story. Needs more flesh on its bones..Then part 2,3 and 4

Liked it. Though I thought that I would have probably enjoyed it more if I had been drunk. Good start for a multi-part story.

I quit at two pages in, was this supposed to be narrated in the first person by someone constantly high, is that why everything is disjointed skips around temporally like a like a time machine designed by someone on meth and ketamine? Is that why sentences stop halfway thru delivering information and in in the equivalent of a stoner staring at a wall for 45 minutes?
