Fine writing and if this were true, a very lucky guy. What's with this projection of moods? Are you suggesting any more than the usual communication of emotions (speech, non-verbal communication), or is there something more unusual going on here?

I don't usually respond to public comments, but Michass' question has come up a couple of times before.

If you go back to the first chapter of the first volume, there's a brief explanation of the empathetic abilities that make Luke a good teacher. It's not really mind control: Luke calls it 'trimming the sails'. There's a stand-alone short story in the works explaining in more detail how Luke found out about this talent and why he calls it this. watch out for it some time in the summer.
