"I'd be happy to." Christine said.
"Great! Thank you, Christine."
Heather dropped me off at the work parking lot to get my car. I loaded my new clothes into the back seat and opened the passenger door for Christine. I leaned into the passenger window of Heather's SUV.
"Thank you, Heather. For everything. I know the company didn't pay for everything today, just know that I deeply appreciate everything you've done for me."
"No problem, Honey. Just promise me that Amber won't disappear back behind Jack again."
"I promise, thanks again."
"See you Monday, Amber."
"See you Monday."
Heather pulled out of the lot, leaving me with Christine.
"Are you ready?" I asked.
"I'm ready, lets go see what kind of mess we can make." Christine smirked.

Anonymousover 1 year agoTo be honest, chapter 2 floundered a bit but you totally redeemed yourself in this chapter. This is how I feel a situation like this would work itself out and the story from Christine was a real gut twister but then most of the honest family rejection stories are exactly that. I can understand Christine not being able to help her brother due to her age and situation but that flashback mentioned nothing about the mother and that must mean that she was just as big a piece of crap as the father was. I cannot wait to see your next chapter.
