So, I've been binging this series today, and i have some suggestions for when I get to the end, but this chapter is, quite simply unbecoming of your talents as writers.

I get that Jarl is probably under either some sort of mental control or simply snapping from the fatigue and stress of what the masters are putting him through.

However. This chapter is a backslide for his character. All of a sudden he's snapped back to the uncouth, arrogant, lazy man he was when he for arrived at the college.

Furthermore, half of this chapter is filled with him raping those he holds power over - and done so with such perfunctory writing that it comes across as though it's nothing more than normal. (Which obviously it is in the world of this story, but that doesn't mean the reader wants such despicable acts in their story without any distance provided by the authors to say, "this is a part of the world, but no, you and I should not see it as acceptable.)
