Why do I remind my wife to go to bed? B/c she has bipolar disorder, and when she is in a depressive phase she feels deep anxiety about going to bed. Not getting good sleep can deepen a depressive episode :/ . At first I tried the authoritarian route to help her get to bed, but that either ended in arguments or deep resentment on her side. I learned that gentle reminders were the best tool I had to help her care for herself. I wish I could do more, but it's the best I can do right now.
