So I like it and I think my favorite moments are when the dynamic is being discussed. Talking about subdrop was great, it's a thing typically overlooked in a lot of stories and by even a lot of people in the community. Which makes me curious about how Luke responds to it.

Neil is weird that's really all I can say. A friend who is way too involved in your sex life and into degrading you without really ever actually acting like a friend at any point. Like kinda just coworkers who vaguely get along.

Now that we've gotten more of Brooke I like her for the most part. How she treats him is a little much. Not the abuse and femdom stuff that's kinda par for the course isn't it. It's almost any time he is in emotional turmoil she is either cruel or backhanded about everything she says. It just comes off as she actually dislikes his existence at times.

Luke is Luke, the using employees to stalk your partner is fucking creepy but that actually tracks.

Continuation because I accidentally hit post and I'm just going to keep on keepin' on.

I still think the Paul thing was too far but we'll see, I have faith in you. Though I do love how Paul kinda went down a checklist sort of interview, that was a really good choice.

Walter's mental health is clearly in decline. He behaves in an eerily similar way to long term battered housewives I've worked with in the past. And I encourage you to write the story you want to. Art has the ability to be challenging and it should be challenged. But I think part of the problem people are having with him is that he has made virtually no decisions (which more people should relate to honestly) other than not telling his only confidante that he is being blackmailed especially when they were discussing how Luke went too far. (With the stalking incident should have had more impact between Brooke and Luke personally. But it's not from thier perspective so who knows.) The other time was getting married. Sorry for the ramble there but my point is he needs a win. An actual win, every not awful interaction for him is good but also shame and a punishment of some sort. Throughout the story his character is almost exclusively being reinforced with shame, self loathing, and fear.

You have written something really compelling is the word I think and I hope you keep it up.

But if you would do me the favor and answer whether it ever gets better for him in aby way or us he just bound to the misery a person who is so afraid of being alone that they will destroy themselves for the slightest chance of gray in the encroaching darkness? Or keep me in suspense that works too.

Thanks again for your thoughtful comments. Remember that it wasn’t just any employee who Luke picked to spy on Walter and Brooke, it was his younger brother Kevin (if you recall, the first chapter referenced Walter working for Kevin as a plumber’s assistant, so I had to find a way to get Kevin more involved). It does get better for Walter, to answer your question, but also gets worse for him, and for Brooke. I think what I haven’t done such a good job of conveying is that Walter is a true masochist. He endures what he does mainly for Brooke, but there also is a part of him that gets some pleasure and satisfaction from the humiliation he endures. I think some of those around him (Brooke certainly, but also Neil and even Luke) realize this before he does, but he comes to realize it more as time goes on. I hope that makes sense. Thanks again for reading it thoughtfully and for taking the time to comment.

I’ve very much enjoyed your stories. Obviously, your writing brings out strong emotions and opinions. True , reading what the professor willingly endures is painful and puzzling. But so are many of the other genres on this site. Readers’ strong reactions, including those that are negative, are in part due to your writing skills. The fact that those critics continue reading your stories is further evidence.

In summary, my opinion: Please keep writing! You have a talent.
