This story points to the poor outlook of any young couple progressing in this manner.

Amy's dialogue seems rather robotic.

The writing is good but emotion is lacking.

What this story needs is an emotional rescue. It is bland and rote and actually dull to my sensibilities. Amy sounds like a parrot and her husband asks the most mundane questions. It didn't really make a point.
