After all, drug use is precedent to a severe loss of self-control - the very thing that a centuries-old order would require in spades to maintain discreet existence.

Perhaps a drug was necessary to make the social orgy possible, but even the wild orgy somewhat conflicts with the ancient wealth and power of the order. Tiberius and Caligula allegedly took that route as emperors of Rome, and their imperial line was ultimately doomed amidst allegations of unrestrained perversity.

I would've liked to see more of the disciplined and carefully considered erotic lifestyle featured earlier in the series, rather than a drug fueled descent into chaos.

I love this story line....please don't end it anytime soon. The twists and turns hold my interest and make me want to know what will happen next.
