At first I thought he was simply an evil bastard who I couldn't wait to see get his comeuppance, but now I wonder what is driving this scary passion. He certainly seems power hungry and more than a little mean, but something more seems to be working if he can look at her lovingly and seem almost confused by what happened. I look forward to the next chapter.
