Epilogue -- Ten years later
Well, I must say. I'm a happy man. Denise and I get along wonderfully.
We have two children, a six year old boy named Theodore and a three year old girl named Abigail. Teddy is a great kid. He loves music and he already grabs the attention of everyone at gatherings with his dance moves. Abby has me wrapped her around her little finger. I have trouble saying no to her. Denise has to step in and play the parent sometimes. I probably would let her eat nothing but candy if she asked me.
Lynda and Evan got married the same summer we did. We hang together quite a bit. Cindy is now 15 and she's already a stunner. She babysits our kids on a regular basis. She's still pretty much the same kid she was when she was five in many ways. She's very smart and has a lot of things going for her. She has a long list of boys that are chasing her but she hasn't settled on a boyfriend yet. Cindy has a little sister as well. She's 6. Her name is Evelyn but everyone calls her Evie. Teddy and Evie get along very well together and we are always joking that they will get married. Who knows what might happen there.
All I can say is that I'm really happy that I wandered into that bookstore years ago, and that I had the guts to chat up the tall slim gorgeous woman I found there.
Sometimes it is possible to escape the friend zone.

Anonymousalmost 7 years agoWhen I was in university many years ago. One of my classmates was similar to the guy that TwoCrows mentions in his comment. My buddy must have had a better opening line than his friend because my buddy always had a 25% positive response to his request " Do you f__k!" I would always see him with a new beautiful girl. I just couldn't believe it, lol. Of course I never got anywhere when I used that line!

Eddie is an idiot too.

He is a trade down for her. Which made me dislike the ending.
twoebover 7 years agoIt was good tell the end then feels rushed have a hard time with hiw he just let her come back after everything. Like she would need to rebuild that bond back some first.

Anonymousover 7 years agoSorry, but the ending was a big let down for me. Denise comes across as a flake. Eddie deserved batter and Lyndia seems like the better fit.

Eddie understood he should have to get out and meet people in order to find someone to date. If you ever went to grief counseling after a big loss that's what they tell you (Get out ther and meet people) He lost his Mojo and became a hermit what choice did he have. Like wondering why you never win the Lottery, you have to play to win.
I wonder what happened to the woman who caused him to shut down.
He was both brave and lucky because he was having a hard time at first meeting woman. Then he met Denise at least she was mostly honest but never at first told him why she wouldn't date him. She helped him meet a few woman. With her help he got laid a lot by Ginny and then by Lynda. He didn't go after the Asian lady I wonder why.
Yes Denise had a secret I'm glad you didn't blow my mind and have Ginny turnout be a man Whew! (She was Kind of secretive at first, low lights and anal sex on the first date). Denise helped him a lot showing him which women to approach.
He told Denise he would respect her boundaries but we knew better. The writer kept her secret well I didn't read ahead to learn her secret. Again Denise's secret wasn't too bad. She (Denise) wanted him but, again she was honest to herself and to what she said to Eddie She lived up to that promise woman of her words?.
The writer made her an honorable woman someone I could like and respect. Then she got lucky when her dream man (GDWDH) turned into a large pile of s--t. Eddie was still there she came back and claimed him.
Yes he may have been plan "B" as some of the commenters have pointed out. Who cares Eddie was happy Denise was who he really wanted. Denise was happy she got Eddie everyone in the story who mattered was happy.
Hell this story Made me happy with way it turned out.

Anonymousalmost 8 years agoLiked it but the way story went, I would be concerned about being her obvious 2nd choice that she only pursued when #1 dropped out on his own.
Most guys would let that bother them, possibly forever.
But a nice tale, well written.
