I loved this story the first time I read and still love just as much after my third time, great little love story!
BUT! I hate public proposals if the answer is uncertain as this one was. I would have prefered her answer to be maybe.
Only thing wrong with this story is that someone left off the last 7 (or so) chapters.
Another read of this great story. Yes, a little short and the ending could have been padded out but there's a lot to enjoy in it.
It has been a while, but I return to read this yet again.
It has a well deserved spot on my favorite list
Thanks for sharing
I'm not sure how many times I've read this story. But I've loved it every time. The mystery of who he is such an interesting wrinkle. I too am a little put off at the hurried ending but still agreat story. Thanks for the share. John
Very good story! Only complaint I have is that there was too much left on the table. Would have loved to see Heather squirm a wee bit more.
Left off the last seven or eight chapters? Gimme a break! We all had a good laugh, or twdnty. The gold digger gets her comeuppance, Marcia gets the son in law she wanted for her sweet daughter, the dweeb gets his boatload of success AND the girl and both are perfectly happy about it. Sure, like most readers, I wanted more of this great story. But where the neck could he go with it and keep up this fantastic level of entertainment? Hell, I thought this was right up there in irony with O Henry's "Gift of the Magi" (which as we all know was a SHORT STORY) but a lot funnier.
Wonderful! too short! great story..
I laughed and my eyes teared..
well done..more please
I have no idea how many times I have read this. Ten, fifteen? But I love it more every time! Funny, romantic, well written and just a good read! Certainly on my favorites list! It WILL be read again!

Nth reread!
I get 'addicted' to reading 'Loving Wives' for days/weeks and this is an excellent 'palate cleanser'/'reset' story with it's charm, humour, and romance!
STILL...
11/10 Jack of Hearts!!!!!
Certainly one of the best lighthearted most memorable delightful short stories on Lit.
A big thank you for writing this.
This is one of the few stories I completely remember just from the title. I'm with SatyrDick: Nth reread
I keep coming back to this story and rereading it. Each time I hope I find a SQL. I have to agree with people other posters there needs to be more.

Best story on his site!
Sorry to disagree with all the other commentators, but this story doesn't require a part 2. Everything of importance is covered, his reaquaintance with Mrs. C, his rejection of Heather and why, and finnding Jenny once more. What else is there to say?
I love this story.. I reread it every time I come on it. Great job, thank you.
Great story, well camouflaged finish - ya knew it was coming, but how?! When is chapter two?
Wonderful story I've read multiple times. But I still don't get why she'd throw the dessert at him!?!?!?
Seriously? This isn't even a hanger! It just ends in the middle. 2007 and no update. Ugh.
Going to give this the highest praise I can, I honestly thought this had been written by qhml.

Really enjoyable story. Yes a continuation would have been great but equally this works as it is. We can imagine how things went. BardnotBard
This is one of my favorites and it is just as wonderful every single time I get a need for an incredible story that always makes me tear up yet I always feel so much better after I get lost in this story. Thanks again for putting in the time and effort to create and post this gem.
What a great story. To the author, I hope you consider writing another chapter in this great story.
As is true of most really good stories, we want to see 'what happens next." But as is also true, the story itself is already complete and needs no next chapter. Bravo. Five stars.

This could easily be written into a movie using young stars in the beginning to pretray the kids growing up to the adults meeting once again . Maybe you should write in a form of a script and summit to someone in the business. Awesome story great characters with a beautiful ending. However it definitely needs and deserves a continued story. John
This as lovely a story as when I first enjoyed it. It still makes me laugh and cry but for a story this good, it’s worth being a bit of a mess. I do wish it could have continued to include the wedding and some of their adventures together. I am sure a marriage that special could have made some wonderful chapters.
Lighthearted and charming story.
Thanks. I agree with others that it would be nice to follow more of their antics, but I understand why you stopped here.
Here's hoping . . .
wish there was a number higher than 5
ive always known i was a bit romantic my goodness
Always one of my favorite stories, one of the few that I really like going back and rereading.
Perhaps my favorite romance story, I have read it three or four times. Good writers seem to manage adding a little humor or action to them that sets them apart from the more serious ones. Excellent.
A lovely, funny, romantic story. Great writing, well done.
I look forward to reading more of your work.
I've read this story many times. I wish you were posting stories on this site!

Short & Sweet, you could have opened it up to many more pages, I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED IT !
THANK YOU !
Once again you managed to cheer me up on a lousy rainy December weekend. Thanks for the sunshine.
Great story, very detailed, but I hope these is at least one more chapter to this, preferably three or four.
Every single time this pops up in my recommended list , I have to read it ,AGAIN! Lol! I love this story!!!
Every Time
I read this fantastic story and we start getting to the point where he is about to go down his list of 'three' things to say to Jennifer, I get a catch in my breath just before he asks "Got any Jacks?" and I just pause there and reread those three words, every damned time.

I have no idea where this story is set, but I do know if they are not in Kansas, with a decent Senator like Joe, they sure as hell are not in Texas.

I am so tempted to rig the system and vote 5*'s every time I read it but I won't, this one needs no one to cheat to run the numbers up, it stands alone being this good as so very few are. Signed: BTW
This is my favorite story! Forgive me for loving the fairy tale ending, but I believe that every life should have a fairy tale ending.
Always nice to read this. Unfortunately, the last work by the author was in 2008? :-(
As I wrote six months ago, this story is complete and needs no second part or even more paragraphs. That's the mark of a Five star story.
JPB NOT BOB
Great story, over the top….. would make a great Hallmark movie.
Thanks for writing.
Every time I come back to this story it makes me happy. Thank you for sharing your talent.
It's pretty good for a cliff notes of a full story condensed into a humerous couple pages.
I liked it but the ending is just to abrupt. It needs a little more to finish things properly.
Fucking great. The ending was not too abrupt for me. I like how the right people end up together like in a Jane Austen novel, and the not-so-nice people have to suffer being themselves. This, too, seems very real to life.
