I looked at Amy again, she looked like she understood me. How can I test the theory?

I decided to ask her the sneaky way.

"Amy, do you remember how you knew about my wish?" I said as I looked her in the eyes with as serious of a look I could come up with. I tapped my head with a finger giving her a sign.

She paused, I'm not sure if it was to think or if she knew I was testing her.

"Yes baby, I remember." she gave me a sly smile while she winked at me.

Now I know she read my mind.

I closed my eyes and thought for a moment more than turning to Stella. I smiled and said.

You want to look in my mind but we just met, Amy trusts you and normally that would be good enough for me. But I would like to know more about whatever this is. How can I do that while we earn each other's respect and more importantly trust?

Stella looked at me awkwardly for a moment. She tapped her fingers on the book in front of her. She seemed annoyed. Her eyes shifted between Amy and I several times.

Then she said, "perhaps another day would be better. For now I will agree with you. After all, we just met and it appears as though you and Amy have a trusting relationship. Let's give it some time for our mutual trust to build as well."

I smiled and respectfully told her, "that it was a wise decision."

She shook her head affirmatively saying, "you are wiser than your years Lisa."

Amy hugged me as Stella asked, "Perhaps Amy can give you a tour around the house."

Amy's eyes lit up, "of course, I would be happy to."

Stella waved her hand as if to say go. Amy curtseyed towards Stella. I thought it was odd but turned to Stella and attempted to do the same. Stella smiled at us as we left the room.

We walked around the house for a while. Amy seemed to know the house very well. I still find it funny they called it a house when clearly it was a mansion but whatever.

When we tried to go out to the gardens a very large man stood in our way. Amy asked to go outside and he said, "I'm sorry ma'am there is a meeting in the garden that can not be disturbed."

Amy thought this was odd but we went off in another direction anyway.

I was busy asking all kinds of questions about the house and where all the neat things came from, that sort of thing when Amy stopped me. She looked me straight in the eye and with a serious look whispered to me, don't trust her until you learn how your powers work. Things have changed here and I'm not sure exactly how. Got it?"

Now I was worried, Amys not usually like this. I just shook my head as I studied her expressions.

We checked out some more of the house before finding our way to the dining room.

"Lunch and dinner are served promptly at noon and six pm daily. Proper dress, manners and etiquette are always demanded in this room. Keep the talking to a minimum and always be respectful. If you have questions, ask. It's that simple." Amy explained.

"Yes ma'am," was my immediate reply.

Being as it was almost noon we sat at the table.

A few moments later. Tony, Ann and a few others joined us.

I felt so much better when Tony took my hand as he kissed me then sat beside me.

"How's your day so far?" I asked Tony as I looked into his eyes.

"Fine." was all he said. No love and hardly any emotion. This confused me. I was about to ask him what's going on when a Grandfather clock started chiming. Loud gongs filled the room.

Servants came from everywhere it seemed all carrying a tray with a silver lid covering our food.

I looked at Amy, she had a doily type thing laying on her lap so I took mine from the table and did the same. I mimicked everything she did during lunch.

I thought it was baby chicken and stuffing with cauliflower. Later Amy told me it was a pheasant as she laughed at me.

A bird, a bird I said. It was pretty good even though I thought it was more of a supper than a lunch.

Later the four of us went out to the gardens. Wow, it was beautiful. Flowers of all sorts were in full bloom in a variety of colors.

Tony picked a white rose and put it in my hair by my ear. I felt so pretty and loved. Amy and Ann got a little jealous so Tony and I picked flowers for them as well. I picked a pink rose for Amy and Tony picked a red rose for his mom.

We walked around the garden for a while. Guards watched from the gates and towers. I wondered why they needed so many guards. I counted twenty one. Tony said he only saw twenty, I pointed out the one hiding in the treeline, he wanted to know how I saw that one. I just smiled. To be honest I'm not sure I did see him, I just knew he was there.

For the next twenty five or so days it was like living in paradise. The weather was almost always perfect except that one day when Tony and I were skinny dipping in a little out of the way spot we found just outside the garden.

I know Tony wanted to make love to me that day but when the weather changed so fast it'll make your head spin. We had to grab our clothes and make a run for it.

It was kinda embarrassing as the guards opened the door for us and we were pretty much naked holding our clothes.

Trust grew for all of us in this time period too. Stella showed me a lot of things but I don't want to say I had control. We did discover that my urges for Tony were a lot stronger than even Stella thought that could be.

Stella understood me better than I did I think but she was always guarded when it came to her mind.

Then one day after discussing it with Amy I decided to allow Stella to look in my mind. The way I understood it was while she was in my head, I would also be in hers.

I told Stella that we could try what she called the summoning.

We sat in the garden, as usual it was a beautiful day. She had me sit in front of her with my eyes closed.

I was pretty nervous, I gotta say.

But Amy, Ann and Tony were all watching close by.

I felt Stellas mind trying to get in. It felt like spider webs on my scalp. It didn't hurt. It was more of a tickle feeling.

I relaxed and cleared my mind. My inner eye opened slowly, it was like I opened my eyes but I knew they were closed.

I looked around and saw everyone nearby. I gave Tony a kiss on the cheek just because.

"You mustn't show affection here Lisa." a voice said.

I looked around to see who was speaking to me, the tickling intensified a bit.

"Who's there?" I asked, looking at Stella.

"I'll talk to you soon my girl," the voice said and the sensation was gone.

I opened my eyes to see Stella staring at me. Her lips were moving as if she was saying something but I couldn't hear her. She had a look of fear in her eyes. Nothing else, just fear.

"What's wrong Stella?" I asked genuinely concerned.

She hesitated for what seemed to be too long then asked, "Where were you?"

Amy was standing beside me covering her mouth almost in tears. Ann looked concerned but stayed seated. Tony seemed worried.

I looked back at Stella saying, "I'm right here! Why?"

"What's the last thing you remember?" Stella asked.

I told her what she said in my mind with a smile.

"That was not me you were talking to. Who were you talking to Lisa?"

Now I was confused, I looked up to Amy, a tear rolled down her face.

"You know who that was, don't you Amy?" I asked knowing she read my mind.

She closed her eyes as more tears rolled down her cheeks.

I stood up and held her trembling body. She broke down crying into my embrace.

Nobody said anything for a while as I held Amy. I felt fine but something told me I might be in trouble somehow. I can't explain how or why but something was very wrong. I think Stella knows but is afraid to talk about it.

Amy finally calmed down enough to talk but she was visibly shaking.

"My power is the ability to read minds." she tells Stella.

Stella looked intrigued, but stayed silent.

"I can't read your mind with all the guards you have around it without you knowing it so I never tried."

Stella looked even more intrigued now.

"Lisa's mind is very difficult to read except when she's in the third eye. Then it's a bit easier but sometimes it's not her mind I'm able to read." Amy explained.

Stella sat forward a bit in her wheelchair asking, "who's mind was it that spoke to Lisa then?"

Amy looked scared shitless.

"I can't be sure." She said, as her eyes shifted to the ground.

I knew Amy was lying and I'm pretty sure Stella knew as well.

Stella sat back asking to be brought back inside.

Ann and Tony went in as well.

Amy and I sat outside quietly for a while just enjoying the day.

"Why did you lie?" I bluntly asked out of the blue.

I know I caught her off guard as she struggled to give an answer.

"Sweetheart, I didn't lie. I just..."

"You promised no secrets Amy, remember?" I said in a slightly hurt voice.

She stopped talking for a moment nodding her head, "yes I did Lisa but you have to understand, I can't tell anyone who you were talking too right now. The ramifications would be crazy."

"So it's okay for me to talk to a mystery woman but not know who she is? That sounds crazy to me, don't you think?"

"Lisa honey, I'm trying to protect you. Can't you see that?"

I crossed my arms angrily saying, "you can't possibly expect me to believe that, right. What's stopping me from talking to whoever she is again right now?"

Her eyes got as big as saucers. But before she could stop me I closed my eyes and concentrated hard on my inner eye.

Amy's voice faded away until I was in that quiet place. My inner eye opened. I wanted answers, I wanted to know why Amy was so scared. I wanted to know why Stella couldn't enter my mind like she said she could do. But most of all I wanted to know who I was talking to. I couldn't see her.

"Are you there?" I asked somewhat angrily.

A long silence followed.

Feeling more angry now, I repeated my message. "Are YOU THERE?"

Again nothing.

Anger turned to rage, I could feel my fists tighten. My blood flowed faster and my heart rate climbed.

I felt so much anger, so much raw rage it felt hateful.

Then a sharp pain in my head. It was so intense. My rage climbed even more as I focused on where it was coming from. I narrowed it down to a place I've never seen, a place I've never been to. Then I see a silhouette of a person.

I focus on the silhouette hard as I get closer and closer. She's not alone. Closer and closer still. She's almost right in front of me. Her back is to me.

She's humming a lullaby, it's familiar somehow. I've heard it before but where? When?

The rage is subsiding. I feel calmer but why? Who is she?

I move around to face her, ready to fight if I have to. Ready for answers. Ready for anything.

The lullaby is so unique as I look at her face. She's familiar somehow. I know this woman, who she is.

Anger and rage are replaced by curiosity and wonder as my heart rate slows. That damned lullaby is calming me.

It's so familiar. I look down at the baby. Confusion fills me, it's me. The baby is me but how, I'm a grown person now. I step back a step. I look at the woman closely.

It can't be. "Mom, is that you?" I ask with a shaky voice.

"Who else, my girl. I see a lot has changed?" she says.

I looked down at my dress and then at the baby boy. Confused, I asked her, "how is this possible?"

She smiles as she tells me, "everything is possible if you just put your mind to it but you have to learn to control your emotions like I said before. In here emotions can have a ripple effect in the waking world that can be devastating. You will learn my girl."

I felt so much calm, love, enjoyment and compassion all at once. Like gentle waves of the ocean pushing each emotion upon me.

"You need to go now my girl but don't tell anyone I'm here. They won't understand." she said.

"But I can't keep this a secret from Amy." I told her.

Amy is a very special person Lisa. She already knows I'm here. She won't say anything and neither can you. Do you understand my beautiful girl?"

"I think so." I said as my eyes shifted to the baby.

She kissed me on the forehead and a flash lit up my vision.

I opened my eyes to see a storm subsiding and I was soaking wet.

I looked around and saw no one around. I got up and went inside. The guard that opened the door stood back away from me. I thought it was strange but continued to my room.

I got out of my wet clothes and ran a hot bubble bath. I soaked for a while thinking of the day's events.

Amy knocked at the door. "Can I come in?"

Of course, you know you don't have to ask, I said with a bit of a cocky attitude.

She flashed a quick smile as she sat on the toilet seat.

I felt so relaxed but I could feel she was tense.

"It's okay Amy. I know who she is. We spoke for a while."

Any held her finger to her mouth giving me the signal to be quiet.

I smiled and thought about what I wanted to say. Amy's face lit up. She was feeling happy as I told her what my mom said about her.

She placed her hands over her heart and cried silently.

I told her everything through thought. I could tell she understood.

She got up a few minutes later and thanked me. She told me we would talk when we could and left.

I must have fallen asleep because the grandfather clock chimed. Even in my bathroom I could hear it.

I was famished so I got out of the bath, dried off and put a dress on without anything else and ran to the dining room.

I sat beside Tony saying I'm sorry I'm late. A dinner tray was placed in front of me and I started to eat.

Tony kept stealing glances at me. I didn't have to read his mind to figure out what he was thinking.

Everyone else finished dinner before me and excused themselves.

Tony and I were the only two left. Even the servants were not visible.

I kissed Tony after I wiped my mouth, surprising him.

We walked around the house holding hands afterwards just talking and enjoying being with one another.

I am enjoying the path and as i have said before always look forward to the next one. I like that they are short. Makes for a nice quick read but at the same time I want to know how it is all going to end.

Getting too sci-fi with the telepathy and mind reading stuff. 2 Stars

This has gotten a little too strange for me. If he was supposed to become this mystical woman, he/she wouldn't have needed her neighbor to force hormones and feminization training to make her one. I thought the whole, "she's wise beyond her years," thing was funny. This is a person that can't do anything on his/her own by the neighbor's design.
