Of course I would delight in his being paraded past the expensive hotel that catered to wealthy foreigners, some of whom might recognize him. I hoped they would take pictures.

I would enjoy it all the way up to the point he was put on display in on the auction block and the bidding began.

At which point I would call off the sale.

But there was no need for him to know that.
