"Two trips are for the weak."

"So I'm weak?"

"No, you're just a short-ass."

"I am normal height, thanks! You're the one with the half-giant genes."

Once he finished putting the cold items in the fridge, he surprised her when he sealed his hands around the jut of her hips and lifted her to balance on the edge of the counter. Spreading the pillars of her thighs as he speared between them, she gripped the edge of the counter with a small smile when he gifted her a kiss. Crossing her ankles against the small of his back as her hunger quickly took over, she painted his lips with a faint mewl and pulled back.

"Before you get started...Can we talk about last night? About what you said."

"And what did I say?" A joking smirk tinged his words.

Hooking her index fingers through the loops of his jeans, she jerked him as close as he could get. "You said I was yours."

"Okay."

"You gunna explain?"

Finding herself lifted up against him, she draped her arms around his shoulders. Tilting her head to rest her cheek against the curve of her bicep as he carried her to the comfort of the couch, she pressed closer when he adjusted her legs to have her straddling the width of his thighs.

"Don't you follow a bunch of poly people on Tiktok?"

"Yeah, so?"

"Why don't we take a page out of their book and have an open relationship?" He lifted a hand and sent shivers down her spine with a soft caress of her cheek. "Here at home we're together but if either one of us vibe with someone else and wanna go on a date or whatever, that's cool too."

"I mean... It makes sense. It'll help us seem normal to the outside world."

"I wouldn't use normal to describe you."

"That's rich coming from you."

A first curled around the wet fibers of the towel and he slowly pulled it from around her head with a grin. "Now, don't feel bad if you don't see me going on dates."

Her eyes rolled and she mimicked it with her hips to tease him. "Yeah, I know, you prefer your one-night-stands. Honestly I might give that outlook a try, after Michael I'm not ready to legit date again. Not right now, at least."

"Actually...I sorta ran into him earlier."

"Oh, okay." She tried not to tense but even just the thought of Michael made her freeze in the comforting embrace he'd wrapped her in, her mind throwing a replay of his morning show up across the inside of her skull.

"He told me his side of the story."

A spike of anger rushed up her spine and she twisted to the side to try her best to break his hold, "And you believe him."

"I didn't say that but we've known him since we were five, Myka. I know when he's telling the truth. He seemed sincere and he said it was Carly you saw that day." He tried to keep his arms around her as she squirmed away but stopped at the next words that fell from her lips.

"Wow. Fucking let go. I am not the crazy ex that accused him with no proof, Silas. There were panties in his laundry multiple times and texts from multiple chicks looking to hook up. And before you assume no I never went through his phone, I saw them on the lock screen when it would light up." Pushing up from the couch she paced away and curled her arms around her rib-cage tightly.

"Did you ever ask him about either of those things?"

"And color myself with the crazy crayon? That's a stupid question. Why are you suddenly taking his side?" Turning away from him, the soles of her feet angrily slapped at the hardwood as she made a beeline for her room. When her eyes landed on the open curtains she crossed the room and snatched them shut only to stare at them through eyes blurred and stinging with tears. Much like Michael, she felt it the second Silas entered the room behind her, his presence was a soothing balm trying to coat the still semi-fresh wounds along the curves of her heart.

"Myka, I love you but I think you're wrong this time. He's not the cheating asshole you think he is. He was different when y'all were together, you were happy, you both were. I usually side with you and I've had your back this whole time and I still do but maybe... Maybe it's time to give it a second look and see if you missed something in the haze of anger."

"For fuck's sake, Silas. Get out and leave me alone."

"Fine but dinner is at six and you're not skippin' out."

The second he left and the door clicked shut she let herself collapse onto the edge of her bed. Staring at the black and purple paisley print obscuring the window, she couldn't help but wonder if he was right. What if Michael had been honest with her when he said it was Carly that night? They hadn't seen Carly since they were preteens and bodies can change a lot over the years, that's something she was all too familiar with. Maybe her insecurities really had gotten the better of her; she had never felt like she was good enough for him and was always comparing herself to what she'd called his harem. "Thanks childhood bullies for that trauma."

Falling back into the messy pile of blankets behind her, she reached for her phone and began to dig through Facebook. Going to Carly's page she found it several years out of date but between old birthday posts from friends she stumbled on a post from her mother. "Carly's account was hacked and she can't recover it, please re-add her new page, Carly Addison Jackson."

Tapping on the tagged account, she let out a heavy sigh when her eyes landed on the profile picture. "I am a fucking idiot." Clicking through her public pictures, she eventually got to one of her and Michael having a beer and burgers at Growlers from the beginning of the year captioned, 'Pit stop to see the best cousin I could ask for on the way to FIT!'

Tossing her phone against the pillows, she let out a frustrated groan as reality ran her over in a fully loaded Mack truck. Rolling to the edge of the bed she stood and moved to stand in front of the dresser as she reached up to slide one curtain to the side to create a small gap. Leaning against the mahogany to look up at his apartment window, her teeth worried at the width of her lower lip. How could he still want to be with her when she was the one who had fucked everything up? Thinking back to their last text exchange she gave life to another sigh; he had apologized when it had all been her fault. Pulling one of the top drawers out to dig beneath the organized rows of carefully folded silk, lace and satin she lifted out the framed eight by ten picture of her and Michael from one of their arcade dates. Trailing the tip of a nail across his handsome features, she reverently set it back where it had sat in the middle of her dresser when they'd been together.

Knock, knock, knock.

A set of knuckles rapped at the other side of the door causing her to jump. Checking the clock as she turned to cross to the door, she was stunned to see a bigger chunk of the day had passed than she'd expected. Silas' voice bullied its way through the door as he spoke, muffled as it was by the mahogany.

"Dinner's here, dress for a date, please." His footsteps retreated quickly until she was once more left alone with her thoughts. Changing direction towards her closet, she flipped through the countless options until she found the perfect one. Deciding to forego underwear of any kind, she stripped out of her robe and donned the short, satin slip dress. Settling the thin straps over her shoulders, she trailed her hands down along the curves of her body to smooth the material down like a second skin. Fingering the lace edging along the bottom hem until she reached short slit against the middle of her right thigh, she grinned at the knowledge that it would drive Silas wild.

The next few minutes passed quickly as she braided her damp hair back and away from her face and rimmed her eyes with a smudge of black liner. Finishing her look with a dark burgundy lipstick, she left the solace of her room to find Silas setting the table. Creeping up behind him on bare feet, she curled her arms around him and rested her cheek against his back.

"You were right. Don't let that go to your head though, you barely fit through the door as it is." She'd barely finished her sentence when a short series of knocks echoed from the front door. He turned in her loosening embrace and gave her a loving smile paired with a kiss to her forehead.

"You look beautiful. Can you get that? I still gotta grab stuff from the kitchen."

"I guess so." Stepping back to finally get a good look at him, she bit her lip at the sight of him in his best dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up. If someone asked her why she found that so sexy, she would never be able to answer, it just was. Trailing the tips of her fingers along his sides, she rocked up onto the balls of her feet and waited for him to lean down to meet her halfway so she could give him a soft kiss.

"Is that Malios? Their garlic Alfredo always smells divine." Turning towards the door as he headed into the kitchen, she failed to notice the third place setting his body had been blocking before. Expecting to see Rico, Booker or Finn (or all three), her face blanched as she swung the door open. Caught off guard by the brick wall of his chest encased in his favorite blue button down, her wide eyes flitted up to meet his just as he finished drinking in the sight of her.

"That dress did always look beautiful on you, Myka."

Thanks for reading :)

I have bad news for y'all, apparently, as Ch. 3 is not just the twins.

Also, the ex never actually cheated. Just in case Myka's detective work didn't make that clear.

I hope you guys read the next chapter but understand completely if you don't. I really wanted to write something with the blackmail twist/prompt and this set of characters fits it perfectly.

Thanks again! Xoxo

Not liking the plot twist, maybe ch 3 will resolve the blackmail threat & we can focus on the twins.

Keep pluggin’ away at it!

I kind of like the fact of the 3rd person but I also like the idea of it just being them two. I’m thrown I can’t tell which idea I like more 😩
