I'm pretty sure it was *PIERS FUCKING ANTHONY*, of all people, who said that when you use magic in your fiction, it needs to have limits.

Like, being on Jeopardy, and everything you say is right. Everything. Even if you don't actually speak, and just fart. Who cares what the outcome is then?
