"Hey, Mom. You're up early." Rubbing my eyes, I checked the time on my phone and couldn't believe it was almost quarter to ten. Considering the wild night we'd had, no wonder we'd slept in. I think we only fell asleep, once we'd worn each other out.

"Yeah, I'm still at work, but I'm okay, Mom. I'm inside, and I'm safe, no worries."

I shot a smile over my shoulder at Chase, who was looking pretty happy with me. "Yeah, a work friend stayed with me." I had to fight not to laugh, as he gave me a curious look. "Yeah, she works on the same floor as I do."

Chase mouthed, "She?" and looked down at his semi-hard dick, raising an eyebrow.

Smirking, I took a look, too, shrugged.

He probably thought it strange that someone my age, had to hide the fact that I enjoyed a healthy sex life. But I knew darn well my mother would be pretty disappointed is she knew I'd hooked up with a co-worker.

I figured my mother didn't need to know exactly what her daughter was getting up to. Especially considering the kinds of things that Chase and I had gotten into to last night. Mom had always preached that I should be saving myself for marriage. But with my track record, I wasn't too sure if it would ever happen, and if I'd ever be lucky enough to meet Mr. Right. Rather than withering on the vine, since I'm still young, I thought I might as well have a little fun, or a lot of fun, at least with Chase.

As he nuzzled into my neck and began dropping distracting little kisses across on my shoulder, I sighed and thought, that he sure felt like Mr. Right, at least for now. Especially since I could feel him growing hard, against my backside. I thought I'd better tell my mother I'd catch up with her later, so I we could enjoy each other, at least one more time.

Smirking at Chase, I said, "Well, I guess I should go, Mom. Something's come up that I should probably take care of."

Chase nodded in agreement, as he used his cock to paint my ass with the pre-cum, that I could feel oozing from the tip, had me almost choking trying not to laugh.

When I finally got my mother off the phone, Chase slid me onto my back, looked down at me and smiled. "So, mom thinks I'm a girl, huh?"

"Well, I figure, what she doesn't know won't hurt her. My mom's pretty old school, and..." tracing a finger around his lips, I finally looked into his eyes and told him, "I've been having such a nice time with you, I didn't want to spoil it by getting a lecture from my mother."

He smiled, bent down and plucked at my lips, and began dusting little kisses all over my face. Softly laughing, I wrapped my arms around his neck, and tugged him down on top of me. Heaving a contented sigh, he wrapped himself around me, burying his face in my neck, he kissed his way up to my ear, with his erection poised between my thighs.

Oh, what a perfect way to wake up, with Chase nice and hard and ready to play.

Running my hands through his hair, as he had me shivering with his kisses, I hated to think that it was morning now, and probably time that I left.

I knew Chase would be fine, all he'd have to do is call one of his lady friends. But as we looked into each other's eyes, I already felt a little bereft knowing it was over.

As though on cue his phone chimed and although he rolled his eyes, I noticed he still reached down and snagged it off the floor and answered it.

As I slid out of his embrace. I heard him say, "Hi. Yeah, I should be okay to see you tonight."

Although I knew we had nothing special, it still felt like a body blow to hear what he was saying. I could feel my heart sink, from the way he was smiling as he talked. I fully expected him to get back in touch with his one of his ladies, but just wished he could have waited till I was gone before he started making plans to see her again.

Turning my back on him, trying to tune out what he was saying I got up and started putting on my clothes.

At least he noticed I was leaving. "Hang on," he said to whoever he was talking to, and asked me, "Nikki, where are you going?"

I turned and shrugged, feeling a little awkward now. "Um...I think it's time I left." We had such a good night, and even knowing he was already talking to another woman, didn't change the fact, that I would probably never be able to forget what we'd shared. "So, thanks for dinner, and a really nice night. Guess I'll uh... see you around, Chase."

I could hear him saying to whoever she was, "Sorry, I'm going to have to call you back." Before he had a chance to get dressed and come after me, I raced down the hallway and headed to my office, and managed to get inside and lock the door behind me.

Sitting at my desk, blinking back tears, I told myself I wasn't going to cry.

Afterall, I knew what I was getting into when I agreed to spend the night, so there was no point in beating myself up over it now. I also knew he was a player. I just didn't know how much it would hurt to have to walk away, knowing he was going to be sharing his bed with someone else tonight.

Noticing the clothes I'd worn to work yesterday folded on my credenza, I thought I'd better get off my butt and get changed so I wouldn't have to do the walk of shame, strolling into my building still dressed for a night out.

I'd just stripped off my dress and I jumped when I heard a sharp rap on the door.

"Nikki, it's me, Chase."

"Chase I'm getting changed, and I'm going to be heading home."

"Why are you in such a hurry? I thought maybe we could go for brunch somewhere."

Normally I'd jump at the chance to spend a little more time with him, especially after the fun we'd had last night. But as I pulled on my shirt and buttoned up my blouse, I knew it would better to make a clean break.

"Nikki?"

Once I'd pulled on my matching black jacket and ran my fingers through my hair to try and get the tangles out, I pulled open the door, deciding I'd better get it over with.

I didn't look him in the face though, because that would have been too hard. "I'm going to head back home now, Chase. I did have a really good time with you last night. But I think we both knew that we'd only have the one night. So..."

"I don't remember agreeing to that. And what if I want more?"

I turned and gathered up my things, hooked my bag over my shoulder, looked up into those blue-blue eyes and patted his cheek. "From what I heard, you've got more than enough to keep you busy, without me in the mix. I'll see you at the meeting on Monday, Chase."

He looked kind of baffled, and opened his mouth to say something, but I just turned and headed for the elevators, before he'd said a word. Though, I could feel him watching me, I was so glad he didn't follow me and try to convince me to spend the afternoon with him, because I was afraid I might just cave and give in.

When I got home, I planned to have a shower and go to bed. I'd never felt so mentally and physically exhausted, and knew the only way I could get him out of my head, was if I was out cold, fast asleep.

Monday morning, I walked into my office and checked that I had everything I needed for the meeting. Then I took deep breath, and walked down the hallway, dreading the fact that I'd have to spend at least an or two with Chase. Especially since I'd have to try and pretend that nothing had happened, and I hadn't foolishly enjoyed the best night I'd ever had with a player like him.

Our boss Bruce was already at the head of the table, narrowing his eyes on me, like he always did. He nodded when I walked in and gruffly murmured, "Morning, Nikki."

Though I had my back to the door, I could feel the moment that Chase walked in, before he'd even said, "Good morning," to the room at large.

I couldn't believe that he'd have the nerve to take the seat next to me.

I turned and looked at him, and could see the amusement in his eyes. I just hoped he wasn't going to try and turn on the charm, when we had a meeting to get through with old scowly face Bruce, watching our every move.

Glancing over at Bruce, I could see that he was eyeing us suspiciously. Which had me wondering if he could feel the tension in the air, because I sure as hell could.

As though nothing were amiss, Chase got up and poured us both a coffee, and set mine down in front of me. Hating to be rude, I looked up at him, and curtly said, "Thank you."

His face broke into a big smile as he politely responded, "You're very welcome."

When he settled back into the seat beside me again, I nearly choked on my first sip, when I felt his thigh brush against mine.

Fighting to keep a straight face, eyebrow raised, I turned and looked at him. I couldn't believe he was actually grinning, probably thinking he was being funny, teasing me as the room filled up, knowing that Bruce was eyeing us like a hawk.

He leaned in, nodded toward my tablet and asked, "So how did you make out?"

Knowing he couldn't do much with what I was showing him now, I turned my tablet and let him take a look.

He nodded, looking impressed. "You've got some really good ideas."

Then he turned his tablet to show me, and whispered in my ear, "You show me yours, and I show you mine."

Shaking my head at him, I couldn't help but laugh, and of course Bruce loudly cleared his throat to let us know he didn't appreciate us fooling around. Though if he had any idea, just how much fooling around we'd done, he'd probably have a stroke.

As everyone's ideas were bounced around the room, I noticed Chase had stopped joking and was busy taking at least as many notes as I was.

He really was good at his job, and great with people. I knew our clients loved him, and now I could understand why, having enjoyed an evening with him at his most charming -- and seductive.

I was glad when the meeting finally came to an end, but not so happy when he leaned in and asked, "How about we grab some lunch at that little French bistro up the street?"

"Sorry, I brought my lunch today, but thanks for asking," I said as I got to my feet, leaving him staring after me.

I spent the next few weeks working on my normal day to day, as well as a new pitch for a big coffee chain we'd heard through the grapevine was looking for a new agency.

Deciding I should close my eyes for a minute, because I'd been at it so long that I was starting to have trouble focusing on the screen, I also didn't want to look at the clock. The way my stomach was starting to growl, I knew it had to be at least eight o'clock. And of course, I worked through lunch again, which was why I was feeling like I was starving.

Now I had to decide, if I wanted to keep working, if I should call somewhere to get something delivered to tide me over, or just wait till I got home and maybe scramble a few eggs or something.

"I saw your light was on, and thought you might be hungry." Knowing it was Chase, from the sound of his voice, I almost hated to open my eyes.

When I looked up, it was him alright, and he was carrying a bag from the bistro he'd mentioned.

Before I could say anything, he set it on my desk and took the seat across from me, leaned in and said, "I'm just wondering if I did something wrong. I thought we had a really nice time together, so I figure I must have done something to upset you. Was it the blindfold? Was that a bit too much?"

I couldn't help but smile, as I admitted, "No, I actually really enjoyed my time with you, especially being blindfolded. It's just that..." I felt kind of silly trying to explain that I wasn't the type who liked to share, since we'd only had the one night together, we were hardly in a relationship.

"It's just what?"

"From what I heard it sounds like you've got more than enough going on. So, I can't understand why you'd even care if we saw each other again or not."

"I'm not sure I'm following you," he said, looking confused.

Heaving a sigh, I explained, "When we first got to your office, I overheard you on the phone gushing over your lady friends, and telling them how much you loved them. I'm sorry, but I'm just not into group stuff."

I watched him start to smile, and he looked like he was trying not to laugh. I wondered what he thought was so funny. Did he think it was weird that I wasn't into orgies?

He reached into his pocket for his phone. "Actually, I do have a couple of ladies in my life, and I should show you who I was talking to."

I held up my hand. "No, it's okay." I sure as hell didn't want to see any sexting pictures he had saved on his phone of some other woman's boobs or any other body parts, for that matter.

He scrolled down, and turned his phone so I could see a picture of a cute little blondie with the big blue eyes. "That's my goddaughter Layla, she just turned six. She lost her mother two years ago from cancer, and she calls me her Uncle Chase." He smiled, looking down at her. "She loves to phone and tell me what her day was like, and I enjoy hearing from her, too. She's a real chatter box, and can always make me laugh, no matter what kind of day I've had. Her dad and I have been buddies since high school. Sometimes, I'll take her out for the day, to a movie or the zoo or even for a bite to eat, just to give him some time to himself. I know it's been hard on him, losing his wife and having to raise his daughter on his own."

"Oh, Chase, she's adorable. And it's nice of you to take an interest in her, too," I said, feeling a little foolish. Now I knew why I thought she sounded a little young from the way he was talking to her, considering she was only six.

As he scrolled down again, he said, "The other lady I was talking to, was my grandmother, May. She's the one that raised me. My mother was pretty young when she had me, she was only nineteen. She was always kind of flighty, and would come and go a lot when I was a kid. Luckily, my grandmother was always there for me. She was a librarian, and really wanted me to get an education and made sure I went to college. Now that I've got her set up in a nice seniors' residence, I try and see her at least once a week." He showed me a picture of him with a bunch of older ladies, with him playing a guitar. "The ladies always enjoy a sing along, so I've brushed on some older songs, and they seem pretty happy whenever we get together."

He scrolled down to the next picture and I could feel my eyes getting a little misty as I looked at a picture of little blond Chase as a boy with his grandmother at his side, both smiling from ear to ear.

"I'll bet they're happy to see you. That's really sweet of you to do that for them, to help keep them entertained."

"Well, she was so good to me. It's not a lot, but it's one way of trying to pay her back, and let her know that I really appreciated her being there for me." He shrugged. "Or I don't know where I would have wound up. I never knew my father, but I was really glad that I had safe place to call home with my grandmother."

I just nodded, a little afraid to say anything afraid I'd start to cry.

Eyeing me across the desk, he nodded at the food. "So, how about we have some dinner?"

We talked as we ate, and I told him about my mother and brother, and mentioned that I'd lost my father in a car accident, when I was still in high school.

He said, "Sorry to hear that."

We'd been talking so much, I almost forgot to thank him for ordering us dinner. "Everything is really good, Chase. I love the chicken in the wine sauce and the shrimp in the creamy cheese sauce is almost addictive. Thank you so much for thinking to bring me dinner. How did you know I was starving?"

He laughed. "Knowing you, I doubted you'd even had lunch today, so I thought I'd better feed you."

I nodded my head, and put down my fork, and looked across my desk at him. "I think I owe you an apology. You really are a nice guy, and I'm sorry I misjudged you."

He grinned. "So... does that mean you'd be okay to catch a movie or have dinner with me sometime?"

Wrinkling my nose, I said, "I'll think about it."

He undid his tie, dangled it over my desk to tease me and I laughed and said, "Okay, fine, I guess if we take things slow, we could go out once in a while and see how it goes."

Then I looked up groaned when I noticed Bruce was poking his head into my office, probably because he'd us laughing. He looked a little shocked, looking back and forth between us. "What's going on here? You're sharing dinner?"

Chase got up, and started clearing the packaging and told him, "I didn't have time to eat today, so I thought I'd ask if Nikki was hungry, since we're working on the same pitch, and she's been working pretty long hours, too."

Though he nodded, Bruce still looked a little miffed, maybe because we hadn't invited him, or maybe he just hated to see anyone enjoying themselves.

He nodded curtly. "Well, good evening then. Don't forget, we've got an early morning meeting in the main boardroom for a final run-through before our big pitch."

We both nodded that we understood, glad to see the back of him when he turned on his heel and left.

Chase and I worked a little more closely after that, and we got a lot done, too.

One night, when we were curled up naked on his couch in his office, after I'd given him a nice hard ride, I realized we'd grown so close, that I couldn't imagine not having him in my life. And I really hoped he felt the same way about me.

The way pulled me into his arms and kissed me, kind of had me thinking he seemed pretty attached to me, too.

One Monday night, I was at my desk, working late again, and I thought I could hear someone playing a guitar, or if it was just someone playing music on their phone.

Wondering who was still at work, since I knew Chase was working with the creative department on a commercial shoot, I stepped out into the hallway, and thought it sounded like it was coming from the end of the hall near Chase's office.

I wandered down the hallway, looking from side to side, till I saw his door was open and the lights were on.

He was sitting facing the door, playing his acoustic guitar, and he smiled right into my eyes as he began to sing, the classic, "I Will."

I could feel a tear running down my cheek, as he sang,

"Who knows how long I've loved you

You know I love you still

Will I wait a lonely lifetime

If you want me to, I will"

His eyes never left mine as he sang the chorus,

"Love you forever and forever

Love you with all my heart"

Before he could finish, I went around his desk, cupped his face in my hands, and nervously laughed kissed him.

He put his guitar down, stood and wrapped me in his arms and hugged me tight. "Guess this is my way of saying, I want it all, Nikki. I want us to be together," he whispered into my hair.

I pulled back, grinning. "So, are you saying you want to share your office?"

I could tell he was trying to keep a straight face, though his eyes were gleaming with amusement. "I'm saying I want to share my life with you. And if you want, we can share the office space, too. I think there's plenty of room for both of us in here."

"I would love to be part of your life, Chase. But I'll keep my office, and maybe we'll just keep sharing the couch."

He smirked, looking over at the couch. "If we're going to be honest with each other, I've got a confession."

"Okaaay? And it better not be that you're married, and you've got a couple of kids at home."

"No. There's no one else." A little smile playing on his lips, Chase told me what he'd hiding. "Actually, I only live around the corner, and I could have gone out the back door, that first night we were together and avoided all the drama on the street and walked up the block to my condo. But I didn't want to leave you here on your own, and didn't think you'd want to spend a night at my place, since we'd barely talked before then. So, I stayed to make sure you'd be okay."

That was so sweet, I could hardly believe that he could have gone home, but stayed her for me. "Oh, now you're going to make me cry."
