So far it seems that the sexual rapacity of Geoffrey and Roger is more central to the story than the love of Mathilda and Robert. Also, Robert's reaction to Mathilda's arrival in his camp makes one wonder if he's conducting a hot gay love affair with William.
Poor Mathilda! Maybe her former ladies in waiting, who were allowed to go home unscathed, were the lucky ones. The new "ladies in waiting," who must submit to Geoffrey at his command, are likely to acquire venereal diseases, lose their reputations and become pregnant. Won't their families object, or maybe even rebel against Geoffrey?
